Overview

Join our dedicated team as a Peer Recovery Support Specialist, where your lived experience and passion for recovery will empower individuals navigating behavioral health challenges and substance use disorders. In this vital role, you will serve as a compassionate advocate, mentor, and resource for clients working toward sustained recovery. Your energetic approach and commitment to culturally competent care will foster hope, resilience, and positive change within diverse communities. This paid position offers an exciting opportunity to make a meaningful difference while advancing your skills in mental health counseling, crisis management, and peer support advocacy.

Duties

Provide peer-led support to individuals with behavioral health conditions and co-occurring disorders, sharing personal recovery experiences to inspire hope.
Assist clients in developing recovery goals, utilizing motivational interviewing techniques and harm reduction strategies to promote engagement.
Conduct crisis intervention when necessary, ensuring safety and connecting clients with appropriate mental health or addiction services.
Facilitate group activities and mentoring sessions that reinforce recovery skills, social connection, and self-advocacy.
Maintain accurate documentation of client interactions using Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems while respecting confidentiality protocols.
Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to coordinate care plans that address clients’ unique cultural backgrounds and needs.
Advocate for clients’ access to community resources, housing, employment opportunities, and other social services essential for recovery stability.

Qualifications

Lived experience with recovery from substance use or mental health conditions is highly valued and preferred.
Demonstrated knowledge of behavioral health principles, addiction counseling, and harm reduction practices.
Experience working with individuals with co-occurring disorders and diverse cultural backgrounds.
Strong skills in crisis management, crisis intervention, and client communication.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality in accordance with HIPAA regulations and ethical standards.
Proficiency in motivational interviewing techniques and social work concepts.
Familiarity with Electronic Health Record (EHR) systems for documentation purposes.
