Boater’s World Manufacturing Group is seeking a Human Resources & EHS Coordinator to support our growing manufacturing operation in Chocowinity, North Carolina.
This is a hands-on, early-career position that combines Human Resources administration with Environmental, Health & Safety support. You’ll work closely with the Human Resources Generalist, plant leadership, supervisors, and employees while helping support onboarding, HR records, employee questions, safety training, incident documentation, workers’ compensation, and day-to-day EHS activities.
This role is ideal for someone who wants to grow their career in manufacturing HR and workplace safety and is comfortable spending time both in the office and on the production floor.
What You’ll Do
Human Resources Support
- Support daily HR activities including onboarding, attendance tracking, employee documentation, HR transactions, and employee questions
- Assist with recruiting and workforce planning for hourly and salaried manufacturing positions
- Coordinate pre-employment requirements and new-hire paperwork
- Support employee-relations fact gathering and documentation while escalating sensitive matters appropriately
- Maintain HRIS records, personnel files, payroll inputs, benefits information, and leave documentation
- Assist with workers’ compensation and return-to-work coordination
- Help maintain accurate and organized employee records
Environmental, Health & Safety Support
- Assist with administration of site safety programs and required OSHA, environmental, and company documentation
- Conduct routine safety observations, floor inspections, job hazard analyses, and risk assessments
- Track corrective actions and follow up with Production, Maintenance, Quality, and Engineering teams
- Support incident response, investigation documentation, first reports, and corrective-action tracking
- Assist with OSHA injury and illness recordkeeping
- Help maintain OSHA 300, 301, and 300A records as directed
- Support chemical inventory, Safety Data Sheets, labeling, hazardous-waste practices, and environmental documentation
- Help coordinate contractor safety requirements and other site-specific safety programs
Safety Training & Employee Support
- Deliver and track required safety training
- Support new-hire safety orientation
- Assist with training related to:
- Hazard Communication
- Personal Protective Equipment
- Emergency Response
- Forklift Safety
- Lockout/Tagout
- Respiratory Protection
- Ergonomics
- Other site-specific safety topics
- Help coordinate safety committee meetings, drills, inspections, and audits
- Maintain a visible presence on the manufacturing floor and communicate regularly with employees and supervisors
Reporting & Follow-Up
- Track safety actions, incidents, training, and EHS metrics
- Assist with preparing information for audits and agency inspections
- Help identify recurring HR or safety concerns
- Communicate trends and recommendations to HR and plant leadership
- Follow up on assigned actions to help ensure concerns are addressed
- Escalate serious incidents, regulatory inquiries, or significant employee-relations concerns promptly
What We’re Looking For
- Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Business Administration, or a related field
- Minimum 2 years of combined HR, safety, workers’ compensation, or EHS support experience
- Experience supporting HR administration, onboarding, safety training, incident documentation, corrective-action tracking, workers’ compensation, or OSHA recordkeeping
- Basic understanding of OSHA General Industry requirements and workplace safety programs
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to communicate effectively with hourly employees, supervisors, technical teams, and leadership
- Strong documentation, organization, training, and problem-solving skills
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office
- Experience with HRIS, incident-management, or EHS tracking systems
- Ability to work full-time on-site in Chocowinity, North Carolina
- Comfortable working regularly in an active manufacturing environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Manufacturing HR or EHS experience
- SHRM-CP or PHR certification
- OSHA 10-Hour or OSHA 30-Hour General Industry training
- Boat, marine, composites, fiberglass, chemical, automotive, powersports, or other durable-goods manufacturing experience
- Experience with workers’ compensation, environmental documentation, or multi-shift operations
- Bilingual English/Spanish communication skills

Work Environment
- Full-time, on-site position in Chocowinity, North Carolina
- Work is performed in both office and active manufacturing environments
- Regular presence on the production floor is required
- Exposure may include noise, dust, fiberglass/composite materials, chemicals, odors, temperature changes, moving equipment, and required PPE
- Ability to walk and stand for extended periods
- Ability to bend, climb stairs or ladders as needed, and occasionally lift up to 35 pounds
- May periodically adjust working hours to support multiple shifts, training, incidents, investigations, or audits
- Must be able to wear required PPE and meet applicable respirator requirements when job duties require it
