Director of Learning & Development
Department: Operations
Reports to: VP of Organizational Development

Build learning that translates into performance.

EMS is seeking an experienced Director of Learning & Development to lead the delivery, execution, and continuous improvement of learning programs across our organization.

This is an opportunity for an L&D leader who knows that great training is about more than delivering content. It’s about creating learning experiences that build capability, strengthen performance, and prepare employees to succeed in their roles.

What You’ll Do

As Director of Learning & Development, you’ll help shape how employees learn, develop, and build proficiency across EMS. You’ll work closely with Organizational Development, business leaders, and subject matter experts to ensure learning is practical, engaging, measurable, and aligned with organizational priorities.

You will:

Lead engaging instructor-led, virtual, blended, and technology-supported learning experiences
Strengthen facilitation practices and coach others who deliver organizational training
Lead the execution and continuous improvement of new hire, operational, and professional development programs
Partner with leaders and subject matter experts to develop and enhance curriculum and learning resources
Build meaningful approaches to measuring knowledge, skill development, proficiency, and learner readiness
Use learning and performance data to identify trends and improve training effectiveness
Lead the effective utilization and administration of our Learning Management System
Expand the use of LMS capabilities including learning paths, assessments, certifications, reporting, and learner validation
Lead cross-functional learning initiatives and build alignment across teams
Provide leadership, coaching, and development to L&D team members as the function evolves

What We’re Looking For

We’re looking for an experienced L&D professional who can move comfortably between strategy and execution.

You’re likely to be successful in this role if you are an exceptional facilitator, understand adult learning, know how to measure whether learning is actually working, and can build strong partnerships across an organization.

Required qualifications include:

Bachelor’s degree in Learning & Development, Organizational Development, Human Resources, Education, Business, or a related field—or equivalent professional experience
7+ years of progressive experience in Learning & Development, training, facilitation, or employee development
Demonstrated experience facilitating instructor-led, virtual, and blended learning
Strong knowledge of adult learning and learner engagement principles
Experience utilizing and administering an LMS
Experience developing learning assessments and measurement strategies
Experience supporting curriculum and learning-content development
Demonstrated success leading cross-functional projects and collaborating across departments

Experience leading L&D professionals, supporting new hire or role-based learning programs, and leveraging advanced LMS functionality, reporting, analytics, and learner validation is highly valued.
