About the Role:

The Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant plays a vital role in supporting licensed counselors and treatment teams in delivering effective care to individuals struggling with substance use disorders. This position focuses on assisting with client intake, monitoring progress, and facilitating communication between clients and healthcare professionals to ensure a comprehensive treatment experience. The assistant helps maintain accurate records, coordinates appointments, and provides educational resources to clients and their families. By fostering a supportive and empathetic environment, the role contributes to the overall success of rehabilitation and recovery programs. Ultimately, the Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant helps improve client outcomes by ensuring smooth operational support and compassionate client engagement throughout the treatment process.

Minimum Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in human services, psychology, or related field preferred.
Basic knowledge of substance use disorders and treatment methodologies.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to interact effectively with clients and team members.
Ability to maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in a healthcare setting.

Preferred Qualifications:

Certification as a Chemical Dependency Counselor Assistant or equivalent credential.
Experience working in a behavioral health or substance abuse treatment environment.
Familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems and data entry protocols.
Training in crisis intervention and motivational interviewing techniques.
Bilingual abilities to support diverse client populations.

Responsibilities:

Assist licensed chemical dependency counselors in conducting client assessments and intake procedures.
Monitor client progress and document behavioral changes and treatment adherence.
Coordinate scheduling of counseling sessions, group meetings, and follow-up appointments.
Provide educational materials and resources to clients and their families regarding substance use and recovery strategies.
Maintain accurate and confidential client records in compliance with legal and organizational standards.
Support crisis intervention efforts by recognizing signs of distress and promptly reporting to appropriate staff.
Facilitate communication between clients, counselors, and external healthcare providers to ensure continuity of care.
Participate in team meetings and training sessions to stay informed about best practices and treatment protocols.
