AKA CARGO INC. is a growing trucking and logistics company based in Cincinnati, Ohio, operating approximately 50 trucks across the United States. We are looking for a reliable, organized, and detail-oriented Accountant / Bookkeeper to join our team and manage the company's day-to-day accounting and bookkeeping activities.
This is a full-time, in-person position. The ideal candidate will have previous accounting or bookkeeping experience and be comfortable working with financial records, expenses, revenue, accounts payable, accounts receivable, bank reconciliations, QuickBooks, and Microsoft Excel.
Previous experience in trucking or logistics is highly preferred but is not required. We are willing to train the right candidate on our Transportation Management System (TMS) and trucking-specific processes.
Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate and complete bookkeeping records for the company
- Record and categorize company revenue and expenses
- Maintain financial records for approximately 50 trucks
- Track revenue, expenses, and profitability by truck/unit
- Maintain accurate records of fuel, repairs, maintenance, tolls, insurance, equipment, and other operating expenses
- Manage accounts payable and ensure vendor bills and company expenses are properly recorded
- Manage accounts receivable and monitor outstanding customer and broker invoices
- Follow up on unpaid invoices and payment discrepancies when necessary
- Reconcile company bank accounts and credit card accounts
- Maintain and review transactions in QuickBooks
- Prepare regular financial and management reports
- Assist with weekly driver pay and settlement reporting through the company's Transportation Management System (TMS)
- Review TMS financial information for accuracy
- Maintain records relating to 1099 drivers and contractors
- Organize invoices, receipts, statements, payment records, and supporting financial documents
- Assist management with revenue, expense, cash-flow, and profitability reports
- Identify discrepancies in financial records and investigate differences
- Maintain accurate records for individual trucks and company-wide operations
- Work with company management and other departments to ensure financial information is accurate
- Prepare organized accounting records and reports for the company's CPA
- Assist with month-end and year-end bookkeeping activities
- Perform other accounting and administrative duties as needed
Qualifications
- At least 1 year of accounting, bookkeeping, or closely related work experience is highly preferred
- Working knowledge of accounting and bookkeeping principles
- Strong Microsoft Excel skills
- Ability to accurately manage financial records and large amounts of transaction data
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Good organizational and time-management skills
- Ability to identify and resolve discrepancies
- Comfortable working independently and taking responsibility for assigned accounting tasks
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of company and financial information
- Good written and verbal communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with QuickBooks
- Previous accounting or bookkeeping experience in trucking, transportation, logistics, or a related industry
- Experience with accounts payable and accounts receivable
- Experience performing bank and credit card reconciliations
- Experience preparing financial or management reports
- Familiarity with Transportation Management Systems (TMS)
Previous TMS experience is not required. Training will be provided.
Education
A college degree is not required. Relevant accounting or bookkeeping experience and demonstrated ability are more important to us.

This is an in-person position in Cincinnati, Ohio.
Compensation
Compensation will be discussed during the interview and will be based on the candidate's experience and qualifications.
