Position Summary
Diehl Tool Steel (DTS) is seeking a detail-oriented and self-motivated Junior Accountant to support both Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable functions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role is responsible for maintaining accurate financial records, supporting internal audits, and ensuring timely processing of financial transactions. The ideal candidate will also assist with general clerical tasks and contribute to the overall efficiency of the accounting department.

Accounts Payable
- Review and verify invoices for accuracy, completeness, and proper authorization
- Process vendor invoices according to company policies and payment terms
- Apply early payment discounts and ensure appropriate general ledger coding
- Enter invoice data into the AP system
- Reconcile purchase orders, receipts, and invoices
- Maintain up-to-date vendor files and contact information
- Assist with indirect purchasing and monitor payment status
Accounts Receivable
- Generate and post customer invoices and receipts
- Track incoming payments and apply to appropriate customer accounts
- Reconcile AR transactions and resolve payment discrepancies
- Send customer statements and assist with soft collections
- Maintain accurate and current customer account information
- Support credit review process for new and existing customers
Banking & Reconciliation
- Reconcile monthly bank statements with the general ledger
- Prepare and verify deposits and receipts
- Maintain accounting records and assist in monthly and year-end closing activities
Reporting & Documentation
- Assist with preparation of 1099 forms and vendor compliance records
- Support internal audits and financial analysis as needed
- Organize, file, and maintain AP/AR and general accounting records
- Update accounting databases
Administrative Support
- Perform general clerical duties including document filing, scanning, and data entry
- Assist with inventory control and processing adjustments
- Communicate with vendors, customers, and lenders as needed
- Help with credit card reconciliations and account maintenance
- Participate in continuous improvement efforts including 5S and Lean initiatives
- Ensure compliance with all internal policies and external regulations
- Regular collaboration with finance, purchasing, and operations teams

Education & Experience
- High school diploma or GED required; Associate’s degree in Accounting or Business preferred
- 1–3 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a manufacturing environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, especially Excel and Word
- Experience with accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Dynamics 365, ERP systems)
- Strong understanding of basic accounting principles and financial procedures
- Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and ability to prioritize tasks
- Familiarity with 1099 processing, vendor audits, and financial reporting
- Knowledge of inventory and asset tracking procedures
- Ability to troubleshoot discrepancies and recommend process improvements
- Capacity to sit for extended periods of time while performing desk-based tasks in an office environment
