SOCIAL GUIDE/ACTIVITIES ASSISTANT

Job Description
The job description below is not meant to encompass every task, skill, or situation that may be encountered in this role. Each employee is expected to use LADD’s mission and The LADD Way to guide their performance. This job description may be modified as organizational needs dictate and changes will be discussed and documented. The daily duties of an activity assistant include planning and leading recreational activities for residents, providing individual support, and ensuring residents are safe and comfortable.

Responsible for fulfilling LADD’s mission to empower adults with developmental disabilities to live, work, and connect; engages directly with developmentally disabled adults and their families based on their prescribed individual needs. Reports To Program Manager

Summary

The Social Guide facilitates community-based activities for small groups of adults with developmental disabilities, emphasizing community inclusion. Helps people receiving services identify and participate in activities that promote increased independence, social skill development, and community inclusion.

Essential Functions:

Transport group to activities throughout the greater Cincinnati area.
Promote socialization, happiness, and fulfillment within a community
Professionally drive and maintain a van.
Plan and implement a variety of activities out in the community that reflect the preferences and interests of individuals served
Assist with collaborative decision-making.
Foster connections, natural supports, and inclusion at a variety of community sites.
Provide direct care, including assistance with eating and toileting as needed.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation.
Track the progress of the goals of individuals served.
Positively represent LADD, the Developmental Disabilities community, and be a good role model to individuals served by maintaining a professional attitude and appearance.
Models The LADD Way (TLW) ensures their performance is aligned with TLW and the policies and practices set for the department.
Approach life with a positive and fun loving nature
Coach positive social skills and interpersonal relationships

Keeps up-to-date on all relevant training and certifications
Recreational Therapy Assistant Planning
Recreation Specialist Program Implementation
Activities Assistant Documentation tasks
Social Aide Direct Engagement
Enrichment Coordinator Scheduler
Special Education Instruction

Education/Skills & Experience.

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Current CPR/First Aid Certification.
Current Medication Administration Certification (as applicable).
Current NMT Physical required.
Valid driver’s license with fewer than six points, and be insured

Work Environment & Physical Demands

set schedule- M-F 8:30-4:30
1 weekend a month on call
Work is performed in a variety of community settings, including offices, museums, public facilities, assembly areas, and outdoor areas.

Pay: $17.25 - $18.25 per hour
