Full Job Description

Company Description Fineline Drafting Inc. is a residential drafting company specializing in detailed plans for homes and residential projects. The company is located at 5330 Primrose Drive, Suite 119, Fair Oaks, CA 95628, serving local builders, designers, and homeowners. Team members work closely with clients to translate design concepts into accurate, buildable drawings. The environment is focused on precision, clear communication, and timely delivery of drafting services to support successful construction projects.
Role Description The Residential Draftsman role is a full-time and part-time, on-site position based in Fair Oaks, CA. This role is responsible for preparing detailed residential construction drawings, including floor plans, elevations, sections, and site plans, in accordance with project specifications and local building codes. Day-to-day tasks include interpreting sketches and design concepts, updating and revising drawings based on client and contractor feedback, and ensuring all documentation is accurate and complete. The Residential Draftsman will collaborate with designers, architects, builders, and office staff, maintain organized project files, and help manage deadlines for multiple concurrent projects.
Qualifications
Proficiency in residential drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD) and strong technical drawing skills.
Knowledge of residential construction methods, building codes, and zoning regulations relevant to single-family and multi-family homes preferred (can be trained).
Ability to read and interpret architectural and structural plans, and convert design sketches into detailed, build-ready drawings.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
Effective verbal and written communication skills for coordinating with clients, builders, and team members.
Additional drafting or architectural technology coursework or certification is preferred.
Previous experience in residential drafting, architecture, or construction design is beneficial.
Willingness to work on-site in Fair Oaks, CA and collaborate in person with the drafting and project teams.

Pay: $23.00 - $30.00 per hour
