Position title: Front Desk Associate 3RD SHIFT

Position type: Part-Time

Reports to: Program Coordinator

Schedule: Fewer than 32 hours per week. Hours vary, depending upon schedule. Some evenings, weekends and on-call work may be required.

About Over-the-Rhine Community Housing:

Over-the-Rhine Community Housing (OTRCH), founded in 1978, is a not-for-profit community development corporation whose mission is to develop and manage resident- centered affordable housing and build inclusive community and benefit low-income residents. We provide the Property Management, Property Development, Resident Services and Tenant Advocacy that enable the thriving, diverse community we enjoy today.

OTRCH traces its roots back to RESTOC (1978) and Over the Rhine Housing Network (1988). Today OTRCH owns over 120 buildings and manages over 750 units of housing in multiple city neighborhoods.

Position Summary:

The role of Front Desk Staff Person is essentially a supportive position. Front Desk Staff monitor daily building activities, provide 24-hour observation of resident behavior, and respond to building and resident issues. As the first point of contact for visitors to our properties, Front Desk Workers are required to exhibit professional, courteous, and respectful, conduct to tenants and building guests. Your first responsibility is the safety and well-being of the residents and staff and to encourage residents to follow property/program rules while creating a welcoming environment. Staff should have an understanding, appreciation, and commitment to the mission and philosophy of OTRCH and the Gloria’s Place project.

Responsibilities:

Welcome all residents, guests, and staff through the single point of entry.
Maintain the daily log and log in guests as necessary.
Ensure that all guests provide proper identification and that he/she follows all guest policies and building rules while in the building (verified by guest log and overnight sheet).
Assist in resident meetings and activities as required.
Maintain effective working relationships
Monitor security doors and fire alarms.
Understand and adhere to professional standards of confidentiality regarding building residents.
Be alert at all times and log at least 3 interactions with residents during shift.
Answer phones and direct calls in a professional manner.
Assist with deliveries, site visits, visitors, tours, etc.
Understand and support the Housing First orientation of the project.
Maintain neat and clean appearance of lobby. Some light janitorial tasks.
Report any hazardous conditions or emergency situations to management immediately.
Follow all safety precautions, and report any safety issues in appropriate manner.
Report all work order requests (except emergency/afterhours work orders to direct supervisor.
Assist the Program Coordinator with administrative tasks as directed.
Maintain a clean and presentable work area, building entry and lobby.

Other

Report to work on time.
Paid time off requests must be submitted two weeks prior to the time off request being authorized by your direct supervisor.
Obtain coverage for vacation and sick time by contacting supervisor to ensure shifts are covered adequately. Responsible for desk coverage until replacement arrives.
Maintain appropriate attire.
Attend all required meetings and training events as required.
Attend staff meetings and trainings as required.

Qualifications and Experience:

Qualified candidates must have minimum of a high school diploma or equivalent
Flexible and adaptable to changing environments
Excellent customer service, multi-task and detail oriented, and ability to follow directions and all procedures in front desk manual.
Good communication and organizational skills.
Ability to demonstrate clear, professional boundaries.
Ability to work in a team environment.
Experience with homeless individuals and their specific needs.
Knowledge or willingness to learn crisis prevention, intervention and resolution techniques.

Compensation: $17-19 per hour commensurate with experience
