Infection Preventionist

Iowa Specialty Hospital is seeking a motivated, collaborative Infection Preventionist to join our Quality team. This important role helps protect patients, employees, and visitors by connecting clinical practice, infection prevention, data, education, organizational policy, and regulatory compliance. The position reports to the Quality Leader and works across Iowa Specialty Hospital locations.

- Member of the Safety and Quality Team
- Work closely with the State of Iowa and other Infection Preventionists across the state.
Responsibilities:
- Coordinating infection prevention surveillance, risk assessments, rounds, education, consultation, public health reporting, and improvement activities.
- Identifying trends and opportunities to improve patient safety.
- Partnering with departments to strengthen evidence-based practices and regulatory readiness.
The role also uses clinical knowledge and nursing judgment to complete assigned data entry, validation, and reporting responsibilities, including CART and other quality, regulatory, or organizational datasets.
Qualifications:
- Current Iowa Registered Nurse license is required
- Five years of professional nursing experience and infection prevention, quality, public health, employee health, or regulatory experience are preferred
- CIC certification is preferred, or the successful candidate must commit to completing infection prevention education within the first year
- Strong analytical, communication, organizational, and collaborative skills are essential
