Brookside Commons | Farmington Hills, Michigan
Brookside Commons is seeking an accomplished Campus Dining Services Director to lead an exceptional, high-volume dining program serving our vibrant Continuing Care Retirement Community (CCRC).
This is an executive-level leadership opportunity for a hospitality-driven foodservice professional who thrives on creating memorable dining experiences, developing high-performing teams, and delivering operational and financial excellence.
Our dining program serves approximately 900 meals every day across independent living, assisted living, and skilled nursing— representing approximately $1.5 million in annual managed volume. This is a complex, highly visible operation where culinary excellence, hospitality, clinical collaboration, and business performance must work together seamlessly.
If you are a seasoned foodservice leader who believes senior living dining should feel more like a premier restaurant, resort, or private club than a traditional institutional operation, we would love to meet you.
As Campus Dining Services Director, you will have broad responsibility for the strategy, people, financial performance, and day-to-day excellence of dining and beverage services across the entire campus.
You will champion a restaurant-style hospitality culture tailored to an active senior living community — elevating the resident experience while ensuring that every level of care receives exceptional service, quality, presentation, and personalized attention.
This role is ideal for a dynamic leader with experience in senior living/CCRC, university campus dining, resort or hotel operations, or other large-scale hospitality environments. This is not a narrowly focused healthcare dietary management position. We are looking for a leader who can bring sophisticated hospitality standards to a multifaceted senior living campus while partnering effectively with clinical professionals.
Direct all campus dining and beverage operations with a focus on elevated, restaurant-style hospitality.
Continuously enhance the resident dining experience through innovation, service excellence, and attention to detail.
Balance diverse resident preferences, dietary requirements, and expectations while maintaining a vibrant hospitality culture.
Oversee food production and service across independent living restaurants, assisted living, and skilled nursing health centers.
Ensure consistent standards for food quality, presentation, service, safety, and resident satisfaction across all levels of care.
Create operational alignment across a complex, multi-faceted dining program.
Lead and develop a talented management team that includes an Executive Chef, Retail Managers, Healthcare Dining Managers, and Registered Dietitian (RD).
Recruit, train, coach, schedule, and performance-manage team members.
Build a collaborative culture centered on accountability, professionalism, hospitality, and continuous improvement.
Assume full P&L responsibility for an approximately $1.5 million dining operation.
Develop and manage departmental budgets while controlling food, labor, and operating expenses.
Oversee purchasing, inventory, and cost-control systems.
Identify opportunities for revenue growth, productivity improvements, and operational efficiencies.
Lead innovative menu planning that reflects resident preferences, seasonal ingredients, nutritional requirements, and cost objectives.
Partner with culinary and clinical leaders to create menus that are both appealing and appropriate for diverse levels of care.
Drive excellence throughout procurement, production, presentation, and service.
Ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local regulations.
Maintain rigorous HACCP, sanitation, and food safety practices.
Partner with clinical and operational teams to meet senior living-specific requirements.
Maintain exemplary health department inspection results and a culture of safety.
Develop strong, trusted relationships with residents, families, and campus leadership.
Listen to feedback and translate resident needs into meaningful improvements.
Serve as a visible hospitality leader and advocate for an outstanding campus dining experience.
5+ years of progressive foodservice leadership experience.
Experience in senior living/CCRC, university campus dining, resort/hotel hospitality, or comparable large-volume operations preferred.
Demonstrated success managing a complex operation of similar scale; 800+ meals per day and/or multi-million-dollar budgets strongly preferred.
Bachelor's degree in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts, Business Administration, or a related field preferred. Significant equivalent experience will be considered.
Active ServSafe Manager certification required.
Certified Dietary Manager (CDM) or Certified Food Protection Professional (CFPP) highly preferred.
You are more than a dining services manager — you're a hospitality leader, business partner, and culture builder.
If you bring:
Strong business acumen and a proven ability to manage budgets and control costs.
Exceptional leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
A genuine passion for hospitality and resident-centered service.
The ability to thrive in a fast-paced, high-volume environment without compromising standards.
Experience partnering with clinical teams, including Registered Dietitians, while preserving an energetic and sophisticated hospitality culture.
A track record of developing people, improving operations, and elevating the guest or resident experience.
Then we want you on our leadership team!
Competitive salary with performance-based incentives
Comprehensive benefits package
The opportunity to lead a high-visibility, high-impact department
A mission-driven organization where your work directly enhances residents' daily lives
