Job Title: Pipe Welder (TIG / Stick Combo)

Location: Franklinton, NC
Employment Type: Full-Time
Salary Range: $28.00 – $32.00 per hour (based on experience)

Job Summary We are seeking a highly skilled and dependable Pipe Welder to join the Merritt Piping and Fabrication team. You will be responsible for the fabrication, installation, and repair of high-pressure piping systems. The ideal candidate must be capable of producing X-ray quality welds on various materials, including carbon steel and stainless steel, while strictly adhering to ASME and AWS codes. Must have orbital welding and sanitary tubing experience.

Core Responsibilities

Welding Operations: Perform precision welding using TIG (GTAW), Stick (SMAW), and MIG (GMAW) processes in all positions (1G through 6G).
Quality Control: Ensure all welds meet project specifications and are ready for NDE, hydro, or X-ray testing.
Equipment Maintenance: Set up, troubleshoot, and maintain welding machines, torches, and power tools.
Safety: Maintain a 100% safety-oriented mindset, utilizing all required PPE and following site-specific hazard protocols.

Required Qualifications

Experience: Minimum of 3 to 5+ years of industrial pipe welding experience.
Certifications: Current AWS or ASME certifications are highly preferred (e.g., 6G position on carbon or stainless steel).
Mandatory Testing: Must be able to pass a pre-employment weld test (e.g., a 2" or 6" Schedule 80 coupon).
Physical Demands: Ability to lift up to 50 lbs., work in confined spaces, and perform at heights up to 75ft in various weather conditions.
