Full Job Description

THE POSITION

The Human Resource Assistant 2 position with the State Correctional Institution (SCI) at Houtzdale offers a chance to support important work that helps staff succeed. This role brings energy to everyday tasks by helping employees access the information and guidance they need. It is a key part of creating a reliable and organized workplace. DESCRIPTION OF WORK

This position supports time and attendance functions for employees at SCI Houtzdale. It focuses on maintaining accurate records, guiding staff on procedures, and helping resolve payroll and leave issues. As a Human Resource Assistant 2, you will perform the following duties:

Time Management: Review attendance data, adjust records, and monitor compliance with policies
Payroll Coordination: Evaluate time issues, apply correct pay rules, and ensure accurate system coding
Leave Processing: Coordinate military leave, extraordinary leave requests, and donation program forms
Record Oversight: Audit departmental timekeepers and track required reports for central office
System Administration: Enter Cross Application Time Sheets (CATS) data, maintain temporary working out of class (TWOC) logs, and prepare reports based on policy requirements
Employee Support: Assist staff with FMLA documentation, personnel files, and accreditation standards

Work Schedule and Additional Information:

Full-time employment
Work hours are 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
Telework: You may have the opportunity to work from home (telework) part-time, up to 2 days per week. In order to telework, you must have a securely configured high-speed internet connection and work from an approved location inside Pennsylvania. If you are unable to telework, you will have the option to report to the headquarters office in SCI Houtzdale. The ability to telework is subject to change at any time. Additional details may be provided during the interview.
Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE, TRAINING & ELIGIBILITY

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum Experience and Training Requirements:

One year as a Human Resource Assistant 1 (Commonwealth job title or equivalent Federal Government job title, as determined by the Office of Administration); or
One year of clerical or other comparable experience and one year of beginning level paraprofessional human resource or equal opportunity work; or
An equivalent combination of experience and training.

You must be able to perform essential job functions.

You must pass a background investigation and meet Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) compliance requirements.
