About this position

Assistant/Associate Professor of Finance and Management

The Benson School of Business at Southern Wesleyan University invites applications for a full-time Assistant or Associate Professor of Finance and Management. The school seeks someone with a specialization in finance who can teach on-campus undergraduate corporate finance, derivatives, investment and portfolio management, international finance, and management courses. This 9-month position begins in August 2026. Salary and rank are commensurate with experience and credentials.

Primary responsibilities include teaching twelve credits per semester (4/4 load), advising and mentoring students academically and spiritually, maintaining an active research/professional development agenda, and serving on university committees. Additional responsibilities include assisting with curriculum development and program assessment and collaborating with the Dean, Admissions, and Marketing to promote Southern Wesleyan to prospective students.

The ideal candidate will have:

A Ph.D. in finance and an MBA.
A mature faith in Jesus Christ.
A firm commitment to the Christian liberal arts tradition and the mission of the university.
A robust understanding of the integration of Christian faith and learning and an ability to help students think biblically and theologically about the study of finance and management.
Demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching and a dedication to mentoring students from diverse backgrounds.
Evidence of a strong research agenda and/or continuing professional development.

Founded in 1906 and located in Central, South Carolina, Southern Wesleyan University spans 350 acres and is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges. With a student body of just under 1200 students, SWU is a diverse community with a 12:1 student-to-faculty ratio. The Benson School of Business currently offers a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration with concentrations in Economics and Finance, Entrepreneurship, Human Resource Management, Management, Marketing, and Supply Chain Management. Minors are offered in Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Finance, Financial Planning, Marketing, and General Business. In addition, the school offers a Bachelor of Arts in Organizational Leadership with concentrations in Business Management, Human Resource Management, or Ministry Management and a Bachelor of Arts in Digital Marketing.
