Job Overview

The Founding Head of School will have the opportunity to engage in compensated planning work prior to the school’s opening. The timeline will align with both school needs and candidate availability, with responsibilities expanding over time and leading into full operational leadership at launch.

We are seeking an energetic and visionary Head of School to lead our educational community with passion and purpose. This pivotal role involves shaping the strategic direction of the institution, fostering a vibrant learning environment, and ensuring operational excellence. This is a rare opportunity to build a school from the ground up. The Founding Head of School will serve as the academic and operational leader, responsible for translating the school’s mission and vision into a thriving, high-performing learning environment. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong leadership, innovative thinking, and a deep commitment to educational excellence, and is both a systems-builder and an instructional leader equally comfortable developing strategy, coaching teachers, engaging families, and managing the operational complexity of a growing public charter school while upholding the school's mission to cultivate well-rounded, confident learners prepared for future success.

About Four Corners Academy

Four Corners Academy is a new tuition-free public charter school seeking a visionary and entrepreneurial Head of School to lead the design, launch, and growth of an innovative, student-centered learning community in Cleveland’s Fairfax neighborhood.

Four Corners Academy is an independent public charter school developed in collaboration with Olivet Institutional Baptist Church and rooted in shared community values serving all students and families and adhering to public charter school laws and accountability standards.

Key Responsibilities:

Strategic Leadership & School Design

Lead implementation of the Four Corners Academy educational model centered on student agency, experiential learning, and project-based instruction
Oversee curriculum development, assessment systems, staffing plans, policies, compliance, and readiness milestones
Partner with the Board of Directors and community stakeholders to ensure strong strategic alignment and sustainable growth
Establish clear performance metrics and accountability systems aligned with Ohio public charter school standards

Talent & Culture

Recruit, hire, and mentor a high-performing team of educators and staff
Establish a collaborative, mission-driven professional culture focused on continuous learning and innovation
Develop systems for coaching, professional development, and staff evaluation
Ensure equitable and inclusive practices that support staff and student success

Academic Program & Student Experience

Implement a strong foundational literacy, mathematics, and science program
Create data-driven instructional cycles to continuously refine teaching practices
Create systems that support social-emotional development and a positive culture
Ensure all students are supported and prepared for long-term academic success

Operations & Growth

Manage budgets, compliance, reporting, and operational readiness
Oversee vendor relationships, facilities planning, and launch readiness timelines
Lead enrollment strategy, family engagement, and community outreach
Guide responsible expansion as additional grade levels are added annually

Community Partnership & Engagement

Strengthen relationships with families, Fairfax community, and partner institutions
Represent Four Corners Academy at community and professional, and partnership initiatives
Serve as a visible, accessible leader committed to transparency and trust

Qualifications

Master’s degree in Educational Leadership, Early Childhood Education, Child Development, or related field.
Must have a valid Principal’s license issued by the Ohio Department of Education
Minimum of 5 years of successful school leadership experience (Principal, Assistant Principal, or equivalent). Experience with public charter school accountability and compliance (preferred)
Demonstrated success improving student achievement and closing opportunity gaps
Proven ability to recruit, develop, and retain strong educators
Strong alignment with student-centered learning, equity, inclusion, and authentic community partnership
Exceptional communication, organizational, public speaking, and relationship-building skills
Entrepreneurial mindset and comfort building systems from the ground up
Classroom teaching experience combined with a deep understanding of working directly with students across various age groups.

Employment Timeline & Compensation

Four Corners Academy’s design phase began in 2025, with the school scheduled to open in August 2027. The Head of School will be required to attend meetings, perform tasks and select staff prior to the opening of the school. Compensation is provided for attending events and for work performed prior to school opening. The annual full time compensation range for this position is of $81,000-$92,000 based on experience. A complete benefit package is available effective August, 2027.
