Position Summary
The Drafter plays a critical role in delivering engineered solutions that support customer requirements, operational execution, and overall project success. This position partners closely with Engineering, Estimating, Sales, and Operations to translate customer and project requirements into accurate, high-quality 3D models and 2D construction drawings. The Drafter contributes to continuous improvement initiatives, design standardization, and cross-functional coordination to ensure projects are delivered efficiently, safely, and in alignment with company standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop detailed 3D models and 2D CAD drawings to support customer-specific solutions, fabrication, and installation.
- Collaborate with Estimating and Sales teams to provide design input, conceptual layouts, and CAD support for quoting and proposal development.
- Communicate directly with customers during the engineering and design phase to clarify requirements, resolve design challenges, and support coordination as needed.
- Review and analyze customer-supplied drawings, specifications, and reference materials to ensure accuracy, constructability, and compliance with applicable standards.
- Coordinate with Engineering, Operations, and Estimating to align design intent with manufacturing capabilities, installation methods, and project schedules.
- Manage assigned projects and priorities to meet deadlines while supporting overall team objectives.
- Develop and implement innovative design solutions and drafting methods to improve efficiency, quality, and consistency.
- Maintain and enhance Inventor and CAD standard libraries, templates, and documented processes.
- Establish, document, and maintain drafting and design standards in alignment with company engineering practices.
- Provide 3D solid models and visual assets to Marketing and Sales teams for customer presentations, proposals, and promotional materials.
- Support BIM coordination activities, including participation in coordination meetings and model reviews using Autodesk and Navisworks, as required.
- Accurately document project details, revisions, and internal and external communications.
- Support continuous improvement initiatives and contribute to a collaborative, solutions-focused engineering environment.

Required Qualifications
- Demonstrated ability to create accurate, detailed 3D part and assembly models that support fabrication, installation, and coordination requirements.
- Proven experience producing clear, complete, and constructible 2D drawings, including layouts, details, and revisions.
- Ability to clearly communicate technical concepts, design intent, and drawing changes to internal teams and external customers.
- Consistent accuracy in drawings, documentation, and model coordination, with the ability to identify conflicts, omissions, and design discrepancies.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and support team-driven schedules in a fast-paced environment.
- Experience working effectively with Engineering, Estimating, Sales, Operations, and external stakeholders.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with complex assemblies, parametric modeling, and BOM-driven design strategies.
- Familiarity with Navisworks and participation in BIM coordination meetings or multi-trade model reviews.
- Experience developing or refining drafting standards, libraries, templates, or workflows to improve efficiency and quality.

Physical Requirements
Primarily sedentary role requiring prolonged periods of sitting at a workstation, up to 8 hours per day. Frequent use of hands and fingers for computer, keyboard, and phone operation. Ability to read, write, and review technical documentation and drawings. Occasional walking, standing, bending, reaching, and light physical activity. Ability to occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, as required.
Work Schedule
This is a full-time position with a standard work schedule of Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., with a one-hour lunch. Flexible scheduling and remote work options may be available with supervisor approval.
Travel
No consistent travel is required. Occasional site visits or installation observations may be available for training or project coordination purposes.
