About Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority

GCRTA was formed in 1974 with the mission of providing public transit services to 59 communities and 1.2 million residents of Cuyahoga County. As the largest public transit agency in the State of Ohio, GCRTAs service options include bus, BRT, trolley, paratransit and three rail lines. The Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) is seeking a highly skilled Internal Communications Supervisor. They will supervise and coordinate the development, implementation, and delivery of internal communications that support employee engagement, organizational initiatives, and GCRTAs strategic priorities. Oversee assigned staff and internal communication channels, ensuring messaging is timely, accurate, consistent, and aligned with Agency brand standards. Coordinate cross-functional communication efforts, lead internal communication projects and campaigns, and monitor communication effectiveness to drive continuous improvement and support informed, engaged employees.

Detailed Description

Coordinates, assigns, and oversees internal communication channels, including the intranet, digital signage, email bulletins, newsletters, and other employee-facing platforms, while maintaining the internal communications editorial calendar. Reviews and approves content to ensure communications are timely, accurate, consistent, and aligned with approved messaging, Marketing standards, and brand guidelines.

Organizes implementation of internal communication plans by directing timelines, assigning work, managing stakeholder coordination, and supervising projects that support GCRTA initiatives and priorities. Develops communication procedures and best practices, oversees crisis communications, and monitors communication effectiveness to improve employee engagement and organizational consistency.

Manages the development, review, and distribution of internal communications to ensure messaging is clear, consistent, audience-appropriate, and aligned with GCRTA's tone, voice, and brand standards. Guides assigned staff and collaborates with the Director of Marketing and department stakeholders to ensure communications support organizational priorities and complement public-facing messaging, when appropriate.

Supervises internal communications staff by assigning work, establishing priorities, providing guidance and coaching, monitoring performance, and recommending personnel actions in accordance with Agency policies. Leads internal communication projects and reviews work to ensure quality, consistency, and timely completion.

Supervises internal communications supporting employee-facing events, campaigns, trainings, town halls, recognition activities, leadership updates, and strategic announcements by assigning work and overseeing the development and distribution of communication materials. Ensures communications are timely, accurate, and aligned with organizational priorities and brand standards.

Serves as the primary internal communications liaison with departments, subject matter experts, and Marketing staff to coordinate communication priorities, approvals, and the development of employee communications. Identifies and implements improvements to communication processes and information accessibility to enhance organizational effectiveness.

Monitors internal communication performance using analytics, employee feedback, readership data, and other metrics to identify trends and improvement opportunities. Prepares performance reports, recommends communication enhancements, and implements improvements to increase communication effectiveness and employee engagement.

Job Requirements

Minimum Requirements:

5 to 7 years of experience in marketing, communications, leadership, website development/maintenance and analytics, event planning, project management, or related experience. Preferred experience includes digital marketing, animation/motion graphics, and/or short-form video.
Bachelors degree in marketing, communications, journalism, public relations, business administration, or related field. In lieu of a bachelors degree, an associate degree with 7+ years of related experience, or HS diploma/GED with 9+ years of related experience may be accepted.

Physical Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit up to 8 or more hours a day. The employee is frequently required to see, hear, and speak. The employee may be required to work at a computer workstation for more than 5 hours a day.

Mental Demands: Reading, studying, focused listening, auditing, inspecting, proofreading, and evaluating required. Ability to give, receive, and analyze information and prepare written materials. Ability to communicate effectively (verbal and written); interpret policy, procedures, and data.
