Global Cleveland is a nonprofit economic development organization dedicated to attracting, welcoming, connecting, and retaining international talent in Northeast Ohio. Through innovative programs, strategic partnerships, community engagement, and workforce initiatives, we help international newcomers build meaningful lives and careers while strengthening the region's economy and communities.

As Global Cleveland celebrates 15 years of impact and continues to expand its reach, we are seeking a talented and motivated professional to join our team as a Development & Events Coordinator.

Position Summary

The Development & Events Coordinator plays an important role in advancing Global Cleveland’s mission by supporting fundraising, sponsorship, grant, and event initiatives. This position works closely with organizational leadership, donors, sponsors, community partners, and volunteers to help generate resources that sustain and grow our programs.

The ideal candidate is highly organized, relationship-focused, detail-oriented, and energized by the opportunity to help create meaningful community impact. This role offers the chance to engage with business leaders, philanthropic partners, and community stakeholders while contributing to high-profile events and initiatives that support Northeast Ohio’s growth and global competitiveness.

This position description is intended to provide an overview of the primary responsibilities of the role and is not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties, responsibilities, or qualifications. Additional responsibilities may be assigned based on organizational needs and opportunities.

Key Responsibilities

Development, Fundraising & Sponsorships

Identify, cultivate, solicit, and steward event sponsors and community partners to support organizational revenue goals.
Assist in developing and implementing donor engagement, stewardship, and fundraising strategies.
Support sponsorship outreach, proposal development, benefit fulfillment, and relationship management.
Maintain accurate records of sponsorships, donations, acknowledgments, and engagement activities within donor management systems.
Assist with grant research, proposal development, submission, and follow-up activities.
Track grant deadlines, reporting requirements, and compliance obligations.
Collaborate with program staff to gather data, impact stories, and outcomes for grant proposals and reports.

Event Planning & Execution

Assist in planning, coordinating, and executing Global Cleveland’s signature events, fundraising activities, networking programs, and community celebrations.
Support the planning and successful execution of the organization’s Annual Meeting and other development-focused events.
Coordinate event logistics, including venue selection, catering, audiovisual services, décor, registration, and vendor management.
Manage attendee communications, registration processes, seating arrangements, and event materials.
Provide onsite event support.
Work collaboratively with staff, board members, sponsors, and volunteers to ensure events are successful and aligned with organizational goals and brand standards.

Administrative & Team Support

Prepare reports, correspondence, sponsorship materials, and event-related communications.
Assist with data entry, recordkeeping, and project tracking to support development and organizational objectives.
Participate in team meetings and contribute ideas that enhance fundraising, sponsorship, and event outcomes.
Support additional projects and initiatives as assigned.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in nonprofit management, communications, hospitality, business, marketing, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
Two to three years of experience in fundraising, development, sponsorship sales, event planning, and grant writing.
Demonstrated success in coordinating events, cultivating partnerships, or supporting fundraising efforts.
Strong organizational, project management, and time-management skills with exceptional attention to detail.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Ability to build and maintain positive relationships with donors, sponsors, community partners, volunteers, and colleagues.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite and donor/event management systems (such as DonorView, Eventbrite, or similar platforms).
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively both independently and collaboratively.
Flexibility to work occasional evenings and weekends in support of events and community activities.
