Full Job Description

Doctor of Pharmacy (PharmD) degree, active Pharmacist license, and minimum 1+ years Director of Pharmacy experience required. Applicants who do not meet these qualifications will not be considered.

A healthcare facility in Florida seeks an experienced Interim Director of Pharmacy to provide leadership and operational oversight while transitioning to a permanent candidate. This contract assignment begins August 31st and continues until the permanent Director of Pharmacy is hired, with coverage starting before the current director’s departure on September 4th.

The role demands strong leadership skills in managing an acute care pharmacy supporting ICU, outpatient infusion, surgical, and medical-surgical units. Coverage is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:30/5:00 p.m., with no weekend duties.

Key responsibilities include:

Leading pharmacy operations and staff comprising three technicians, one full-time pharmacist, and four PRN pharmacists.
Preparing for The Joint Commission (TJC) surveys and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards.
Collaborating on Clinical Pharmacy Agreements (CPA) via CPSI order entry system (training provided).
Managing policies, procedures, and 340B program oversight.
Supervising sterile compounding processes, with technicians primarily handling medication preparation.
Ensuring efficient pharmacy consultant services per Florida regulations.

Preferred qualifications:

Active Florida Pharmacist and Consultant licenses.
A minimum of three years’ experience in pharmacy management, particularly in inpatient settings.
Competency in intravenous medication preparation and TJC standards.
Familiarity with pharmacy automation systems such as Omnicell.
