Overview
We are seeking an experienced and passionate Sommelier Beverage Manager to lead our beverage program in a fine dining or upscale hospitality setting. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership skills, extensive knowledge of wine and beverage service, and a background in food and beverage management. This role offers an exciting opportunity to elevate guest experiences through expert wine pairings, staff training, and exceptional customer service. The Sommelier Beverage Manager will oversee all aspects of beverage operations, ensuring quality standards, inventory control, and team development are maintained at the highest level.

Duties

Curate and manage the wine and beverage selection, ensuring a diverse and high-quality offering that aligns with the restaurant’s concept.
Lead staff training sessions on wine service, food pairing, and beverage knowledge to enhance team expertise.
Oversee daily beverage service operations, including supervising bartenders, servers, and kitchen staff involved in drink preparation.
Manage inventory control, ordering, and stock rotation using POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS to optimize costs and minimize waste.
Handle cash transactions accurately through POS systems while maintaining excellent customer service standards.
Collaborate with culinary teams on menu development, including food preparation integration with beverage offerings.
Ensure compliance with food safety standards and responsible alcohol service regulations.
Assist in shift management, including scheduling staff, monitoring performance, and conducting interviews for new hires.
Maintain a welcoming environment for guests by providing expert recommendations and personalized service in a hospitality-focused atmosphere.
Support budgeting efforts related to beverage costs and contribute to overall restaurant management strategies.

Requirements

Proven experience in fine dining or upscale hospitality environments with a background in food preparation, food handling, and culinary experience preferred.
Extensive knowledge of wine varieties, spirits, cocktails, and beverage trends; certification as a Sommelier or similar credential is highly desirable.
Strong leadership skills with previous management or supervisory experience in food service management or hospitality management roles.
Proficiency with POS systems such as Aloha POS and Micros POS; cash handling experience required.
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to train staff effectively and foster team development.
Experience in inventory control, budgeting, shift management, and restaurant management practices.
Background in food safety standards and responsible alcohol service regulations.
Ability to work efficiently under pressure in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism.
Hospitality industry experience including hotel or banquet settings is advantageous; casual dining or catering experience is also beneficial.
