Job Overview
We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Lead Die Maintenance Technician to oversee and execute maintenance, repair, and optimization of die tooling used in manufacturing processes. This pivotal role ensures the reliability and efficiency of die equipment, supporting high-quality production and minimizing downtime. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical aptitude, extensive experience with various machining techniques, and leadership capabilities to guide a team of technicians. Join us to lead innovative die maintenance initiatives that drive operational excellence and manufacturing success.

Responsibilities

Lead the maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of complex dies used in manufacturing equipment.
Develop and implement preventive maintenance schedules to maximize die lifespan and performance.
Utilize CAD software such as SolidWorks and CAD tools like AutoCAD to review die designs, schematics, and fabrication plans.
Program CNC machines including CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, and electrical discharge machining (EDM) equipment to modify or create die components.
Conduct precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, dial indicators, and other precision measuring instruments to ensure dimensional accuracy according to GD&T standards.
Collaborate with engineering teams on die design improvements utilizing GD&T principles, CAM programming, and fabrication techniques.
Exposure to CMM and 3D scanning technologies
Maintain detailed documentation of maintenance activities, schematics, tooling records, and repair logs for accountability and continuous improvement.

Skills

Proficiency in CAD software such as SolidWorks and AutoCAD for design review and modifications.
Strong knowledge of CNC programming for milling machines, lathes, and EDM equipment.
Expertise in GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning & Tolerancing) standards for precise measurement and quality control.
Hands-on experience with electrical discharge machining (EDM), welding techniques, fabrication processes, and tooling development.
Mechanical knowledge covering stamping presses, hand tools, schematics interpretation, assembly procedures, and fabrication techniques.
Ability to use precision measuring instruments such as micrometers, calipers, dial indicators for quality assurance.
Strong math skills essential for dimension calculations and process adjustments in machining operations.
Experience working with manufacturing environments involving stamping presses or similar heavy machinery.
Excellent leadership skills to guide a team of technicians in a fast-paced production setting while ensuring safety compliance.
