Are you a seasoned server or bartender with a knack for leadership and a "no job too small" attitude? Brown Iron Brewhouse is looking for a dynamic Hourly Shift Manager to support our teams in both Royal Oak and Washington Township.

This isn't your typical "desk job" management role. We need a "player-coach"—someone who can lead a shift from the floor while ensuring the entire ship runs smoothly. If you have previous management experience, a deep appreciation for the craft beer world, and aren't afraid to jump into the kitchen when the heat is on, we want you on our side.

The Details:

Pay Range: $15.00 – $20.00 per hour (based on experience and shift type).
Flexibility is Key: This role is designed to fill vital shifts across both of our locations. You’ll be the "go-to" leader for daytime openers or nighttime closers.

What You’ll Do:

Lead shifts from the front, checking in team members and setting the standard for the day.
Whole-House Support: Use your kitchen experience to assist the BOH during rushes, ensuring ticket times stay low and food quality stays high.
Beer Advocacy: Use your knowledge to guide guests through our tap list and ensure our beer standards (from glassware to pour) are elite.
Stay Organized: Manage incoming orders, oversee floor flow, and use your technical skills to keep operations running behind the scenes.

What You Bring:

Experience: Previous management or supervisory experience in a restaurant or bar setting is required.
Kitchen Fluency: Background in BOH/kitchen operations; you know your way around a line and aren't afraid to work hard alongside the culinary team.
Technical Savvy: Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, Outlook).
Beer Knowledge: A strong understanding of craft beer styles. A Level 1 Certified Beer Server credential is a major plus!
Mobility: Willingness and ability to work at both our Royal Oak and Washington Township locations.

Job Description: Hourly Shift Manager

Reports To: Area Director / General Manager Position Type: Hourly / Flexible Compensation: $15–$20/hr

Position Summary

The Hourly Shift Manager at Brown Iron Brewhouse is responsible for overseeing specific shift operations while maintaining an active presence in both the front and back of the house. This role is for a hardworking, leadership-minded professional who can bridge the gap between service and the kitchen, ensuring the entire restaurant operates as a cohesive unit.

Key Responsibilities

Total House Leadership

Conduct pre-shift meetings and "check-in" team members to ensure they are prepared and informed.
Cross-Functional Support: Provide active support in the kitchen during peak periods or staffing gaps, ensuring food quality and speed of service.
Cicerone-Level Stewardship: Ensure all beer is poured and served according to Brown Iron standards (correct glassware, head, and temperature).
Manage "opening" or "closing" checklists to ensure the building is secure and organized.

Guest Relations & Service

Circulate the dining room and bar area to engage with guests ("table touches").
Resolve guest complaints or concerns immediately and professionally.
Maintain a "player-coach" mentality, stepping into any role—from the bar to the line—to support the team.

Operations & Administration

Technical Organization: Utilize Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook to manage shift logs and internal communication.
Accept and verify incoming orders/deliveries (FOH and BOH), ensuring items are organized and stored correctly.
Oversee side work completion and maintain a high standard of cleanliness in all areas of the house.

Flexibility & Performance

Maintain a flexible schedule with the ability to travel between the Royal Oak and Washington Township locations based on staffing needs.
Support high standards of accountability, leading by example with a strong work ethic.

Qualifications

Prior Management Experience: At least 1–2 years of experience in a leadership or supervisory role.
Kitchen Experience: Proven experience working in a professional kitchen environment is highly preferred.
Software Proficiency: Experience using Microsoft Office Suite for restaurant organization.
Beer Credentials: Level 1 Certified Beer Server (Cicerone Program) preferred.
Reliability: Must have dependable transportation to commute between both business locations.

Pay: $15.00 - $20.00 per hour
