Full Job Description

An Accounting Clerk at DPS Telecom:
Computes, classifies, records, and verifies numerical data for use in maintaining accounting records by performing the following duties.

Duties

Monitors accounts payable and receivable to ensure that payments are up to date.
Codes invoices for input to accounting software according to company procedures.
Prepares vouchers, invoices, checks, and other accounting records, and reviews for accuracy.
Assists employees, vendors, clients, or customers by answering questions related to accounts, procedures, and services.
Compiles and sorts documents, such as invoices and checks, substantiating business transactions.
Verifies and posts details of business transactions, such as funds received and disbursed, and totals accounts to our accounting software.
Audits invoices against purchase orders, researches discrepancies, and reviews for payment.
Reviews, balances, and interprets computer reports, and makes corrections.
Reconciles report discrepancies and problems.

Qualifications and Experience

Education/Experience:
One year certificate from college or technical school; OR three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Computer Skills:
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of:

Microsoft Word word processing software;
Microsoft Excel spreadsheet software;
Type 40+ Words Per Minute
Knowledge of sequence of procedures in the accounting cycle

Language Ability:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.
Knowledge of and ability to employ proper English usage, spelling, grammar and punctuation.
