Cellnow is a growing electronics buyback and resale business with retail locations in Clovis, Bakersfield, and San Mateo, plus a strong wholesale and online sales operation. We're looking for a sharp, detail-oriented Trading Operations Manager to work directly alongside our two owners and take ownership of the daily buyback and wholesale workflow.
This is a key hire — one of the most important on our team. You'll be trusted with real decision authority, manage one direct report, and be the day-to-day operational leader for two of our core departments. The role is primarily a desk and phone role — reviewing manifests, negotiating deals, and communicating with sellers and buyers — with occasional time on the warehouse floor when needed. If you like the idea of running a business unit inside a small, fast-growing company — without the politics of a large corporate structure — this is that role.
What You'll Do
- Review manifests for incoming buyback shipments — reconcile our warehouse team's grading and count results against the seller's declared manifest and identify discrepancies
- Prepare final manifests with any deductions and communicate them clearly to sellers
- Negotiate deduction adjustments and final settlement amounts with sellers to close deals
- Authorize and process bank/Zelle/PayPal payments to sellers once deals are finalized
- Create outbound sales invoices and manage buyer communication throughout the sales cycle
- Shop inventory to our buyer network, compare offers, and close deals with buyers paying the strongest prices
- Manage and develop one direct report (Operations Assistant) with weekly 1:1s and clear priorities
- Serve as the day-to-day point of contact for the warehouse team on questions about incoming stock, grading standards, and buyback processes
- Occasionally support the warehouse team with physical stock verification or spot-checks when needed (this is not the core of the role — our warehouse team handles most physical counting and grading)
- Track KPIs on gross margin, deal turn time, and volume; report weekly to ownership
- Serve as a trusted second-in-command for the two business owners across the buyback and wholesale functions
- Take on additional responsibilities and smaller day-to-day tasks as the business evolves — we're a small, fast-moving company, and flexibility is key. The role will grow with you and with us
What We're Looking For
- 2+ years in operations, procurement, wholesale trading, or B2B sales (electronics, phones, or refurbished goods a big plus)
- Strong written and verbal communication — you'll spend most of your day negotiating and coordinating with sellers and buyers
- Comfortable negotiating four-, five-, and six-figure deals over email and phone
- Strong Excel/Google Sheets skills — comfortable with manifests, inventory systems, and invoicing tools
- Sharp eye for detail — you'll be catching discrepancies that directly affect our bottom line
- Self-starter who can own outcomes without being managed day-to-day
- Flexible and willing to pitch in beyond your core duties — in a growing small business, roles evolve and no one says 'that's not my job'
- Prior experience managing at least one direct report is strongly preferred
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus (not required)
- Must be able to work on-site in Clovis, CA — this is not a remote or hybrid role
Schedule & Time Commitment
This is a full-time exempt (salaried) position. The standard schedule is Monday–Friday, and we expect approximately 45–50 hours per week to run the department well. Saturday work is an expected part of this role as needed by the business — not every week, but when buyback volume, incoming shipments, or buyer deadlines require it. This is a role for someone who values ownership of outcomes and treats the department as their own, rather than clocking strict hours.
Structured 90-Day Onboarding & Evaluation
All new hires in this role begin with a structured 90-day introductory period. This is designed to give you the training, context, and hands-on experience needed to succeed — and gives both of us a clear window to confirm it's the right long-term fit.
What to expect during your first 90 days:
- Full base salary paid from day 1
- Direct training from ownership on our systems, buyer network, and buyback processes
- 30-day, 60-day, and 90-day formal review checkpoints with clear, honest feedback in both directions
- Gradual increase in decision authority and independence as milestones are met
- Full benefits (health, 401(k), etc.) and enrollment in the performance bonus program begin on day 91
What We Offer
- Competitive base salary: $75,000 – $90,000 depending on experience (paid in full from day 1)
- Performance bonus tied to gross margin and deal closure (target 15–25% of base annually), starting after the introductory period
- Total compensation target of $90,000 – $110,000 per year
- Direct mentorship from ownership and a clear path to expand responsibility as the company grows
- On-site role at our modern Clovis warehouse office
- Paid time off (accrues from day 1, usable after day 91)
- Health Insurance Plan
- 401k Plan and 401k Matching
