JOB OVERVIEW:
Central Valley Indian Health, Inc. (CVIH) is seeking qualified candidates for the position of Medical Transporter. This position provides transportation and delivery services in support of CVIH patient care and clinic operations. The primary focus of this role is to pick up and deliver medications, durable medical equipment (DME), medical supplies, and other authorized items in accordance with CVIH protocols. Duties may also include transporting CVIH patients to and from their homes and healthcare facilities for medical appointments. The Medical Transporter must practice safe driving, timely scheduling and coordination of services, and effective communication. The incumbent holds a “Safety Sensitive” position and is responsible for HIPAA compliance.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
A. Relate to and have knowledge of people in the community. Facilitate communication between community members and health care providers.
B. Build and maintain the trust & confidence of clients and health care providers.
C. Maintain confidentiality and professionalism to support clinic operations and strengthen confidence between staff and the community.
D. Act as a client advocate to facilitate services and assist in overcoming barriers to acquisition of health care.
E. Refer patients to PHN for services, as needed.
F. Work with other Outreach staff to facilitate timely and positive patient outcomes.
G. Transport CVIH patients within the service area to CVIH and other health care agencies in accordance to CVIH protocols.
H. Provide medication pickup and delivery services from CVIH-contracted pharmacies to CVIH patients per CVIH protocols.
I. Provide pickup and delivery services for durable medical equipment (DME) and other medical supplies to CVIH patients per CVIH protocols.
J. Transport supplies, records, interoffice mail, etc. between CVIH clinics.
K. Organize regular assignments to maximize outcomes and to utilize work time efficiently.
L. Maintain consistent, accurate communication and documentation. Submit required paperwork and reports with the Outreach Coordinator.
M. Promptly report and document any patient or vehicle issues.
N. Communicate in a friendly and professional manner to others. Provide excellent service/support to all patients, employees, and outside contacts.
O. Any other duties assigned to the employee by his or her direct supervisor or CVIH Administration.
REQUIREMENTS:
1. High school diploma or GED.
2. Live within and/or have knowledge of service area.
3. Must be able to carry & lift supplies and/or equipment weighing 50 lbs.
4. Must be able to sit for extended periods of time.
5. Must be able to read, write, follow instructions, prepare reports and demonstrate effective communication skills.
6. A valid California Driver’s License and clean driving record with the ability to be insured under CVIH’s automobile insurance.
7. Current CPR training.
8. Awareness and keen appreciation of, or willingness to learn about, Indian traditions, customs and socioeconomic needs. Ability to work effectively with Indian health organizations consisting of numerous tribes with varied cultures. Tact, courtesy, discretion, resourcefulness, and sound judgment when handling sensitive matters or interactions.
9. This is a “Safety Sensitive” position and as such, is subject to random drug testing and is required as a condition of continued employment.

SUMMARY:
This is a full-time position, Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Hours may vary on occasion, based on patient needs.
Pay: $25.00 - $27.00 per hour
