Join the Zia Powersports Accounting Team

Zia Powersports is seeking an experienced Payroll Specialist / Accounting Clerk to join our team in Clovis, New Mexico.

This is an important accounting position responsible for ensuring employees are paid accurately and on time while supporting the Controller with day-to-day dealership accounting operations. The role combines payroll processing with hands-on accounting responsibilities, including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, bank reconciliations, account reconciliation, and general accounting support.

We are looking for someone who is organized, dependable, highly accurate, and comfortable working with confidential information. The right candidate will be able to manage recurring deadlines, work independently, and become a reliable part of a busy dealership accounting team.

What You'll Do

Process payroll accurately and on schedule for employees across multiple departments and varying pay plans
Review employee timecards for accuracy and resolve discrepancies prior to payroll processing
Process payroll deductions, benefit deductions, garnishments, child support orders, and other required withholdings
Maintain accurate and confidential employee payroll records
Assist with payroll reporting, tax documentation, and year-end payroll activities, including W-2 preparation
Help ensure compliance with applicable federal, state, and local payroll requirements
Process Accounts Payable invoices and prepare vendor payments
Post customer payments and assist with Accounts Receivable
Perform bank and account reconciliations
Reconcile vendor statements and research discrepancies
Assist with month-end closing procedures
Post accounting transactions using our dealership management system and other accounting software
Maintain organized accounting records and supporting documentation
Assist the Controller with financial reporting, audits, reconciliations, and special accounting projects
Provide additional support to the accounting department as needed

What We're Looking For

3–5 years of payroll and/or accounting experience preferred
Hands-on experience processing payroll
Experience working with multiple departments, compensation structures, or varying pay plans is strongly preferred
Working knowledge of payroll taxes, deductions, garnishments, and payroll compliance
Experience with Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, and reconciliations
Dealership accounting or automotive/powersports industry experience is a plus
Experience with dealership management systems (DMS) is preferred
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Office, and Google Workspace
Strong mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills
Exceptional attention to detail and commitment to accuracy
Ability to prioritize multiple responsibilities and consistently meet deadlines
Strong organizational and time-management skills
Professional written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently while also supporting a team
High level of integrity and discretion when handling payroll and other confidential information
Dependable attendance and a strong work ethic is an absolute must
Positive, flexible attitude and willingness to assist where needed
