Job Summary
We are hiring an EHS Specialist who will be responsible for all aspects of plant safety, training and environmental programs. This is on onsite position in Clovis, NM. It is expected that this position will split 80% environmental and 20% safety responsibilities.
Responsibilities:
Environmental responsibilities
- Responsible for the operation of the potable water treatment and reverse osmosis plant.
- Responsible for the operation of the entire WWTP facility including both the domestic and industrial waste streams
- Supervise and coordinate work coverage and troubleshooting of plants. This includes scheduling of normal daily, weekly and monthly operational duties as well as any unscheduled wastewater and facility operational tasks
- Supervise laboratory operations, methods and analysis.
- Lead FI, AM, UAM projects within the facility.
- Ensure Preventative Maintenance activities around all responsible equipment are performed.
- Conduct required regulatory training, including Continuing Education for Operators
- Document control of all required regulatory and other documents including recordkeeping of such documents
- Order consumables and other materials necessary for the operation of the WWTP and RO facilities.
- In charge of upkeep of all lands and grounds to comply with all SWC policies and standards
- Be available for any required regulatory or customer audits to explain and show records of significance to an auditor
- Responsible for all waste collected and recyclables that are hauled off site by 3rd party contractors.
Safety Responsibilities
- Lead all aspects of safety including compliance initiatives, training development, risk assessment, reporting, etc.
- Develop and maintain training programs and a safety culture that promotes a workplace free of injuries, i.e. emergency response, qualified electrical, PSM, respiratory protection, etc.
- Evaluates utilization of corporate training process and material in conjunction with local needs.
- Work closely with f Environmental, Health and Safety Manager to implement company initiative and to lead change.
- Perform hazard analysis within plant location and assists plant management teams in the development and execution of action plans for the improvement of safety and environmental performance.
- Utilize GPS processes, driving zero losses and upholds the culture of Southwest Cheese non-negotiables.
- Comply with all applicable food safety regulations and mandates. (Food Safety Modernization Act- FSMA, Safe Quality Foods, Food and Drug Admin, Pasteurized Milk Ordinance)
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Industrial Safety or Industrial Hygiene or similar field
- 3-5 years of plant experience in related industry / manufacturing environment
- Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures.
- Participate in proactive team efforts to achieve departmental and company goals.
