Position Summary
The General Manager is responsible for the overall operation, performance, and guest experience of the 54 room property. This position provides leadership to the hotel team while ensuring the property consistently meets brand standards, financial goals, operational expectations, and guest service standards.
The General Manager serves as the primary leader on property and is responsible for creating a positive, accountable, and team-oriented culture. The ideal candidate is a hands-on hospitality leader who can balance people management, guest service, financial performance, and day-to-day hotel operations.
Key ResponsibilitiesHotel Operations
- Oversee the daily operation of the property, ensuring a clean, safe, welcoming, and well-maintained environment.
- Maintain consistent compliance with brand standards, company policies, and applicable laws and regulations.
- Monitor front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, breakfast, and other hotel operations to ensure departments are functioning effectively.
- Conduct regular property inspections and follow up on identified issues.
- Ensure proper completion of opening, closing, safety, cash-handling, and operational procedures.
- Coordinate preventative maintenance and promptly address maintenance concerns.
- Maintain appropriate inventory levels and control operating expenses.
- Ensure accurate records, reports, and required documentation are completed on time.
Guest Experience
- Create a culture focused on exceptional guest service and hospitality.
- Respond appropriately to guest concerns, complaints, and service recovery opportunities.
- Monitor guest reviews and feedback and implement improvements when needed.
- Ensure the property consistently provides a clean, comfortable, and positive guest experience.
- Build relationships with repeat guests, local businesses, and community partners.
Team Leadership & Staff Development
- Recruit, interview, hire, onboard, train, and develop hotel employees.
- Establish clear expectations and hold employees accountable for performance.
- Create and maintain employee schedules based on occupancy, business needs, and labor budgets.
- Conduct regular coaching and performance conversations.
- Recognize and encourage employees who demonstrate excellent performance.
- Address attendance, conduct, and performance issues consistently and professionally.
- Promote teamwork, communication, and a positive workplace culture.
- Ensure required employee training is completed and documented.
Financial & Revenue Management
- Manage the property to meet or exceed established financial goals.
- Monitor revenue, occupancy, ADR, labor, operating expenses, and departmental performance.
- Work with the management company and revenue resources to maximize hotel revenue and profitability.
- Review financial reports and identify opportunities for improved performance.
- Control labor and operating expenses while maintaining appropriate service levels.
- Monitor purchasing and vendor expenses and ensure spending is appropriate and necessary.
- Assist with annual budgeting and forecasting.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve occupancy, revenue, guest satisfaction, and profitability.
Sales & Community Relations
- Support local sales efforts and develop relationships with businesses, organizations, and community partners.
- Identify opportunities to increase group, corporate, extended-stay, and repeat business.
- Maintain awareness of local events and market conditions that may affect hotel demand.
- Represent the property professionally within the local community.
- Work collaboratively with the management company and sales resources to support the property's overall sales strategy.
Safety, Compliance & Risk Management
- Maintain a safe environment for guests and employees.
- Ensure compliance with OSHA, health and safety requirements, employment laws, and other applicable regulations.
- Ensure required inspections, logs, reports, and training are completed.
- Follow established procedures for emergencies, accidents, guest incidents, and employee injuries.
- Protect hotel assets, guest information, cash, and confidential company information.
Communication & Reporting
- Maintain regular communication with ownership and/or the management company.
- Provide timely operational updates, performance information, and reports.
- Communicate effectively with employees and ensure important information is shared across departments.
- Participate in management meetings, training, and company initiatives.
- Maintain accurate documentation of operational issues, employee matters, guest incidents, and follow-up items.

Qualifications
- Previous hotel management or hospitality leadership experience preferred.
- Previous General Manager, Assistant General Manager, or department leadership experience preferred.
- Strong understanding of hotel operations, including front desk, housekeeping, maintenance, and guest services.
- Strong customer service and communication skills.
- Demonstrated ability to lead, coach, and develop employees.
- Ability to understand financial reports, budgets, labor costs, and hotel performance metrics.
- Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to work independently and prioritize competing responsibilities.
- Proficiency with hotel operating systems, Microsoft Office, email, and other standard business technology.
- High school diploma or equivalent required; hospitality or business education is a plus.
Work Environment & Schedule
This is a full-time hotel leadership position. The General Manager's schedule should be based on hotel occupancy, business needs, staffing levels, and operational priorities and may include mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
The General Manager is expected to maintain a strong presence at the property while also utilizing appropriate delegation and scheduling practices to create a sustainable and effective operation.

Compensation & Benefits
Compensation and benefits will be based on experience, qualifications, and company policy.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
