BLUE GRASS QUALITY MEATS JOB DESCRIPTION

POSITION TITLE: Food Safety System Coordinator

REPORTS TO (Title): Quality Assurance Manager

DEPARTMENT: Quality Assurance

PURPOSE: This position is established to direct the coordination, development, maintenance and summarization of Food Safety Records, the development and maintenance of AQL Programs, and the development and maintenance of Process Control Programs. The individual in this position is responsible to control HACCP/SSOP and Food Safety Records as required by USDA and Blue Grass Quality Meats Policy, to develop and maintain GMP, Food

Safety, Micro programs and process control programs, and to develop and maintain AQL standards for all finished products and certain received products. These programs, in addition to other company process and quality control programs, provide the basis for quality and food safety of Blue

Grass Quality Meats’ products. Food Safety Coordinator serves as SQF

Practitioner. Performs all other duties as assigned.

LIST OF SPECIFIC ACCOUNTABILITIES/CUSTOMER FOCUS:

1. Assist in providing technical backup to assure the company Food Safety System and

HACCP programs meet USDA/FDA requirements.

2. Summarize Food Safety System and HACCP documentation to support and keep current HACCP supporting documentation.

3. Facilitates the Food Safety System and HACCP Records review and records retention program, investigates HACCP, Food Safety System, process, and quality deviations that could lead to HACCP failures, and completes and provides “Trend Analysis” of

HACCP, SSOP, and Process deficiencies.

4. Assist in the investigation of HACCP system failures, the determination of root causes. Provides input and documents the implementation of corrective/preventative measures, and if necessary, the revision of the appropriate Food Safety System or

HACCP Plans.

5. Develop and maintain all Process Control Programs. (Formally the PQC Programs)

6. Develop and maintain AQL programs for all finished products and designated received materials.

7. Coordinate the various Quality and Food Safety programs within the framework of the Global Food Safety Initiative. In particular, the Safe Quality Foods (SQF) certification scheme. This position serves as the SQF Practitioner.

8. Able to backup for 1st or 2nd shift Q. A. Inspectors.

9. Other duties as assigned by Q. A. Manager.

KEY MEASURABLE RESULTS:

1. Food Safety System - HACCP, SSOP, and related documentation is correct and immediately accessible.

2. Food Safety System supporting documentation is summarized, up-to-date and provided to appropriate management personnel.

3. Process Control Programs are developed and implemented.

4. AQL programs are accurate and up-to-date.

5. Food Safety System and HACCP records regulatory compliance is maintained.

6. Maintain annual SQF certification.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required

1. High School Diploma

2. Proven ability to work well independently and with team members at all levels.

3. Strong written and verbal communication, attention to detail, problem solving, and training skills.

4. Ability to accomplish team goals with a diverse workforce.

5. Exemplary attendance history.

Preferred

1. Bachelor’s degree in food science or related field and substantial experience in quality and food safety.

2. Successful record in Quality Assurance, Manufacturing and/or Product

Development. HACCP Certified

3. Experience with food safety, HACCP and food regulations.

4. Food processing and packaging experience.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $45,000.00 - $55,000.00 per year
