Millhaven Seasonal Event Assistant/Intern (Until November 1st, 2026)

Location

Millhaven: 311 Spruce Street, Marshall Michigan

Modern Day Collective

Modern Day Collective, initially established as a floral boutique, has since matured into a prominent entity in the realm of luxury wedding services throughout Michigan. The organization continues to maintain its foundational enterprise, specializing in the planning and design of upscale weddings and corporate functions. In 2019, the acquisition of Greencrest Manor facilitated its transformation into a leading European-inspired wedding destination within the Midwestern region. Furthermore, the recent inauguration of The Millhaven, an avant-garde industrial event space situated in Marshall, Michigan, marks an additional expansion of its portfolio.

Role

We are seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Event Assistant to join our organization. This role offers a valuable opportunity to acquire practical experience in event planning and execution, collaborating with a proficient team of experienced event professionals.

The responsibilities of this role will encompass supporting the event planning team across all facets of event management, including logistical oversight, catering set up of breakfast and lunch, event setup and breakdown, assisting in event coordination, and client liaison.

The position will be expected to engage in collaborative efforts with the event planning team, ensuring the seamless execution of all events and the attainment of client satisfaction.

Core Duties:

Facilitate the planning, coordination, and execution of various events, including weddings, corporate functions, and social gatherings.
Support logistical operations, such as vendor management and transportation arrangements.
Participate in the set up of event design concepts, encompassing decor, lighting, and floral compositions.
Deliver exemplary client and vendor service, including addressing requests, and ensuring attendee satisfaction.
Attend and support on-site events as required, including equipment setup and breakdown, vendor liaison, and operational oversight.
Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned by the event planning team, encompassing administrative tasks, research, and special projects.

Qualifications

Excellent communication and organization skills required.
Must have a knack for details and be able to juggle multiple projects.
The ability to handle a fast-paced environment and manage time well is crucial.
Detail-oriented and a good problem-solver under pressure.
Must be able to handle surprises and changes effectively.
Ability to work independently and be a great team player.
Must communicate effectively with colleagues and interact professionally with clients and vendors.
Availability to work evenings and weekends, and a flexible schedule for event planning and execution is a requirement.
Genuine passion for event planning and a drive to grow professionally in design, logistics, and customer service is a big plus.
Candidates must possess the ability to stand for extended durations and lift objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
