Full Job Description

The Catering Sales & Events Manager for the Hilton Garden Inn - College Station is responsible for generating catering, group, meeting, and event business while ensuring the successful planning and execution of all events. This position is accountable for achieving hotel revenue goals through proactive sales efforts, exceptional client service, and effective coordination with hotel departments. The manager serves as the primary liaison between clients and hotel operations to ensure seamless event execution and an outstanding guest experience.

This position requires a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as business demands.

Primary Responsibilities

Revenue Generation
- Solicit, book, and execute catering events, meetings, conferences, and group business to meet or exceed established revenue goals.
- Develop and maintain strong client relationships to generate repeat business and referrals.
- Monitor revenue performance and identify opportunities to maximize catering, food and beverage, and guest room revenue.
- Track actual revenue and labor costs against budget and resolve discrepancies with Accounting.
Guest Experience & Quality
- Partner with the Front Office, Food & Beverage, and other operational departments to deliver exceptional guest experiences.
- Ensure compliance with Hilton Brand Standards, Lodging Host standards, and company service expectations.
- Respond promptly to guest and client requests and resolve concerns professionally to ensure complete satisfaction.
- Maintain positive relationships with guests, clients, and team members.
Leadership
- Lead, motivate, coach, train, and develop banquet, catering, and event team members.
- Establish performance expectations, provide ongoing feedback, recognize achievements, and address performance concerns in accordance with company policies.
- Foster teamwork, accountability, professionalism, and a positive work environment.
Professionalism & Work Ethic
- Demonstrate integrity, accountability, and sound judgment in all business decisions.
- Communicate effectively across all hotel departments.
- Promote collaboration while maintaining compliance with company policies, safety standards, and operational procedures.
Essential Duties & Responsibilities
- Maintain complete knowledge of departmental policies, procedures, service standards, and hotel operations.
- Anticipate guest needs and provide prompt, courteous, and professional service.
- Maintain knowledge of hotel amenities, services, local attractions, and event facilities.
- Resolve guest and client concerns in a timely manner.
- Ensure cleanliness, organization, and safety of all assigned work areas.
Event Planning & Coordination
- Review daily, weekly, and upcoming Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) and communicate changes to appropriate departments.
- Organize group meeting requirements and prepare event timelines and room setup diagrams.
- Inspect meeting and banquet spaces to verify cleanliness, equipment functionality, and proper room setup.
- Coordinate room setups, refreshes, breakdowns, and event transitions according to scheduled timelines.
- Manage event changes and accommodate client requests whenever possible.
- Remain available throughout the duration of all scheduled events to ensure successful execution.
- Maintain regular communication with clients during planning and throughout the event.
Operations
- Establish inventory par levels for supplies and equipment.
- Process requisitions for linens, skirting, supplies, and other event materials.
- Assign work schedules and responsibilities based on event requirements.
- Conduct pre-event meetings with banquet and event staff.
- Monitor employee performance during all phases of event setup and service.
- Inspect function spaces using departmental checklists and coordinate corrective action when necessary.
- Submit maintenance work orders and coordinate repairs with Engineering.
- Oversee receipt, storage, and delivery of group packages.
- Complete required documentation, reports, and closing procedures.
- Maintain organized client files and departmental records utilizing Delphi and other required hotel systems.
Performance Standards
- Performance will be evaluated based on, but not limited to:
- Achievement of Catering and Food & Beverage revenue goals
- Achievement of Group and Guest Room revenue goals
- Client satisfaction and event execution quality
- Accurate and timely documentation in Delphi and other required systems
- Compliance with brand standards, company policies, and operational procedures
- Leadership effectiveness and team performance

Bachelor's degree in Hospitality, Business, Marketing, or a related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Previous experience in hotel catering sales, event management, hospitality sales, or a related leadership role.
Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Excellent organizational, time management, and multitasking abilities.
Proven ability to build client relationships and close business.
Strong leadership, coaching, and team development skills.
Proficiency with Delphi or similar sales and catering management software is preferred.
Professional appearance and demeanor.
Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours as business needs require.

Physical Requirements

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
Ability to lift and carry up to 25 pounds.
Ability to inspect meeting rooms and event spaces throughout the property.
Ability to work in a fast-paced hospitality environment while managing multiple priorities simultaneously.
