The Memory Care Life Enrichment Coordinator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and facilitating a comprehensive life enrichment program designed specifically for residents living with Alzheimer's disease, dementia, and other cognitive impairments. This position creates meaningful opportunities that promote engagement, purpose, dignity, social connection, emotional well-being, and quality of life for residents at all stages of cognitive decline. The Memory Care Life Enrichment Coordinator develops and implements individualized and group programming that incorporates residents' interests, abilities, life experiences, and personal preferences while supporting the community's philosophy of person-centered care. This position works collaboratively with the Wellness & Engagement Director, Resident Care Director, colleagues, families, volunteers, and community leadership to create an enriching, therapeutic, and hospitality-focused environment. At all times, the Memory Care Life Enrichment Coordinator serves as a role model for the community's Core Values and demonstrates a commitment to providing exceptional service to residents, families, guests, and fellow associates.

Associate's degree in Therapeutic Recreation, Gerontology, Psychology, Human Services, Social Work, Recreation, Healthcare, or related field preferred.

Preferred certifications include Certified Dementia Practitioner (CDP), Certified Alzheimer's Disease and Dementia Care Trainer (CADDCT), Certified Therapeutic Recreation Specialist (CTRS), Montessori Dementia Care Certification, or other recognized dementia care, therapeutic recreation, life enrichment, or memory support certifications and specialized training.

Minimum of two (2) years of experience in senior living, memory care, healthcare, recreation, activities, life enrichment, or a related field required.

Experience working directly with individuals living with Alzheimer's disease and other forms of dementia is strongly preferred.

Experience coordinating events, group activities, and individualized programming preferred.

Valid state Driver’s License with a clean driving record and ability to drive a 14-passenger bus.

Appreciation of older adults and the ability to build relationships with them

Excellent communication, interpersonal and exceptional customer service skills

Completion of all state-required dementia care training preferred.

CPR and First Aid Certification (or ability to obtain).

Demonstrated team-oriented and collaborative work style and willingness to assist colleagues as needed to get the job done.

Excellent oral and written communication skills and demonstrated ability to adapt communication style to the audience.

Champion innovative and meaningful engagement opportunities that elevate the Memory Care resident experience, foster purpose and belonging, and support the continued growth and excellence of the community’s dementia care program.

Design and facilitate meaningful group and individual engagement opportunities that support residents' cognitive, physical, emotional, social, spiritual, and sensory well-being.

Collaborate with the Resident Care leadership, Wellness & Engagement Director, and other interdisciplinary team members to support resident care plans and quality of life goals.

Communicate observations regarding changes in resident mood, behavior, participation, or functional abilities to the appropriate team members.

Work closely with caregiving staff to promote consistent engagement throughout the day.

Collaborate with residents and families to conduct engagement assessments, gather life history and personal preference information, and develop individualized engagement opportunities that support person-centered care.

Encourage resident participation while respecting individual preferences, abilities, and choices.

Utilize evidence-based dementia care approaches, including reminiscence therapy, sensory programming, music therapy, validation techniques, Montessori-based activities, and purposeful engagement strategies.

Coordinate and lead activities including exercise programs, music programs, educational opportunities, creative arts, sensory experiences, community outings, spiritual programming, intergenerational activities, and special events.

Serve as a resource and mentor to Wellness & Engagement Coordinators regarding dementia-specific engagement approaches and best practices.

Collaborate with the Wellness & Engagement Director to integrate applicable Live Well Program initiatives into Memory Care, utilizing person-centered practices to enhance resident engagement, support individualized wellness goals, and further elevate the Memory Care experience.

Monitor resident engagement, participation, and quality of life indicators and recommend program modifications to better meet resident needs.

Arrange transportation and logistics for resident outings and excursions as assigned.

Create a warm, engaging, and welcoming environment that reflects the community's commitment to hospitality and excellence.

Monitor resident participation and engagement and modify programming as needed to meet resident needs and interests.

Promote resident independence, dignity, and self-worth through meaningful engagement opportunities.

Build positive relationships with residents and family members.

Communicate regularly with families regarding resident participation, interests, and engagement opportunities.

Encourage family involvement in life enrichment programs and special events.

Partner with families to identify resident preferences, meaningful life experiences, and opportunities that support engagement, purpose, and overall well-being.

Maintain accurate activity participation records, assessments, calendars, and required documentation.

Ensure programming complies with applicable state regulations, company policies, and memory care standards.

Assist with preparation for regulatory surveys and inspections as requested.

Monitor activity supplies and equipment and submit purchase requests as needed.

Maintain activity areas in a clean, organized, safe, and inviting condition.
