Summary
GTS Technology Solutions is seeking a Senior Data Engineer for a higher education client in the Denton, Texas area.
This contract-to-hire role supports enterprise data platforms, data architecture, operational data stores, enterprise data warehouses, data marts, data lakes, integrations, analytics, and institutional reporting.

What You Will Do
- Design, develop, implement, and maintain enterprise data warehouses, operational data stores, data marts, and data lake solutions.
- Build scalable cloud and hybrid data solutions using Oracle Cloud Infrastructure and related Oracle technologies.
- Develop logical and physical data models to support analytics, reporting, and enterprise data needs.
- Design and maintain ETL/ELT pipelines using tools such as Oracle Integration Cloud, SnapLogic, SSIS, PL/SQL, T-SQL, and related technologies.
- Support integrations across ERP, HCM, SIS, CRM, LMS, and third-party SaaS platforms.
- Build and support API, REST, SOAP, SFTP, file-based, batch, near real-time, and event-driven integrations.
- Ensure data quality, reconciliation, validation, exception handling, and performance optimization.
- Support reporting and analytics using Power BI, Oracle Analytics Cloud, or similar SQL-based reporting platforms.
- Create curated datasets, semantic models, dashboards, KPI structures, and reporting views.
- Monitor data pipelines, platform health, data processing, system performance, and integration workflows.
- Support cloud security, encryption, auditing, backup, recovery, and disaster recovery practices.
- Create and maintain technical documentation, data dictionaries, process flows, and operational procedures.
- Collaborate with technical and functional stakeholders across the organization.
Required
- 8+ years of progressively responsible experience in data engineering, enterprise data warehousing, ETL development, analytics engineering, or equivalent.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Engineering, Information Technology, or a related field preferred. Equivalent combination of education and experience will be considered.
- Experience designing and supporting enterprise data warehouses, operational data stores, data marts, data lakes, and analytics platforms.
- Experience supporting hybrid cloud and on-premises enterprise data ecosystems.
- Strong SQL experience, including Oracle PL/SQL, SQL Server T-SQL, or equivalent technologies.
- Experience with database performance tuning, SQL query optimization, schema design, and data modeling.
- Experience building and supporting ETL/ELT pipelines.
- Experience with cloud and integration platforms such as Oracle Cloud Infrastructure, Oracle Integration Cloud, SnapLogic, SSIS, REST/SOAP APIs, SFTP, or file-based integrations.
- Experience with analytics and reporting tools such as Power BI, Oracle Analytics Cloud, or equivalent.
- Strong analytical, troubleshooting, communication, documentation, and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to communicate technical concepts to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities in a complex enterprise environment.
Desired
- Higher education data environment experience.
- Experience with Ellucian Colleague, Ellucian Banner, PeopleSoft Campus Solutions, Workday Student, Oracle Fusion Cloud, Oracle EBS, or similar systems.
- Oracle Fusion Cloud ERP/HCM integration and reporting experience.
- Oracle Autonomous Database, ATP, ADW, OCI Data Integration, OCI Object Storage, or OCI Analytics experience.
- Data quality, data governance, and metadata management experience.
- Knowledge of IPEDS, FERPA, HIPAA, or Texas Administrative Code 202.
- Relevant Oracle, Microsoft, or cloud certifications.
