Full Job Description

K.P. Kauffman Company, Inc. is an independently owned oil & gas company located in downtown Denver. Together with our subsidiaries and affiliates, we are engaged in ethical production, drilling, transportation, and well service of oil and gas in the Rocky Mountain States and several basins. We are committed to exploration and development and strive to maintain growing and prosperous operations, supported by a flexible and responsive management approach.

Summary

The Accounts Payable Manager is responsible for overseeing the Company's accounts payable function and the administration of related accounting and operational functions. This position ensures the accurate and timely processing of vendor invoices and payments, maintains compliance with company policies and internal controls, and administers the Company's commercial insurance program and utility accounts. The Accounts Payable Manager collaborates with internal departments, vendors, insurance brokers, and utility providers to support efficient business operations.

Essential Job Functions

Process high-volume vendor invoices accurately and timely.
Review invoices for proper approvals, account coding, and supporting documentation.
Process ACH, check, and wire payments in accordance with company policies.
Reconcile vendor statements and investigate invoice and payment discrepancies.
Maintain vendor master files, including W-9s, tax documentation, and banking information.
Respond promptly and professionally to vendor inquiries and resolve payment issues.
Administer the Company's commercial insurance program, including coordinating annual policy renewals, maintaining policy records, obtaining certificates of insurance, processing claims documentation as needed, and serving as the primary liaison with insurance brokers and carriers.
Administer utility accounts for more than 30 company locations and vendors, including new service requests, account maintenance, billing review, payment coordination, service transfers, and issue resolution.
Monitor recurring vendor contracts and services to ensure timely payments and uninterrupted operations.
Assist with employee expense reports and corporate credit card reconciliations.
Prepare and reconcile accounts payable reports to support month-end close activities.
Maintain organized accounting records and electronic documentation in accordance with company record retention policies.
Assist with internal and external audits by providing requested accounts payable, insurance, and utility documentation.
Maintain compliance with company policies and internal accounting controls.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Minimum of three to five (3-5) years of progressively responsible accounts payable experience.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
Experience processing high-volume invoices in a fast-paced environment.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office applications.
Experience using ERP/accounting software; Enertia experience a plus.·
Oil and gas, energy, construction, or other industrial industry experience is preferred.
Ability to successfully pass a background check.

Work Setting

This position is based at K.P. Kauffman Company's downtown Denver corporate office and requires 100% in-office attendance. Flexible schedule to be established in coordination with the supervisor to meet departmental and business needs.
The work is performed in a professional office environment and requires extended periods of sitting, frequent computer use, and occasional lifting of office materials up to 20 pounds.
