ABOUT WORK SHOP COLORADO

Work Shop Colorado is a self-performing design-build developer based in Denver. Our Wood Shop produces all cabinetry and millwork for our own luxury custom homes and designer-curated communities, as well as outside builders, general contractors, and direct clients who come to us for one-of-a-kind pieces.

THE ROLE

The Cabinet Design Manager leads and develops a team of Cabinet Designers responsible for designing and managing cabinetry projects from concept through delivery. This role is focused on operational excellence, ensuring the team produces accurate, high-quality designs and that projects move efficiently through the pipeline.

This position reports directly to our Owner and collaborates closely with the Wood Shop General Manager and Manager of Fabrication Sales.

The ideal candidate brings strong kitchen and cabinet design experience, proven leadership ability, cabinet showroom experience, and a process-oriented mindset.

BUILD & GROW THE DIVISION

We currently offer our own custom cabinetry and serve as a leading distributor for a respected outside line. We are looking for an operations leader with the initiative to help us expand and systematize our cabinet offering: supporting the research, onboarding, and integration of new cabinet lines in a way that sets up our team and our clients for success.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Product & Cabinet Line Operations

Support the evaluation and onboarding of new cabinet lines, ensuring smooth integration into team workflows and systems.
Maintain and manage vendor and manufacturer relationships for outside cabinet lines.
Oversee pricing accuracy, product documentation, and showroom presentation for all outside lines.
Coordinate with vendors on lead times, product updates, and issue resolution.

Project Intake, Prioritization & Handoff

Serve as the primary point of contact for all incoming cabinetry projects, whether for Work Shop Colorado homes or external clients.
Delegate incoming projects to the appropriate Cabinet Designer based on workload, capacity, and project scope.
Ensure appropriate prioritization across all active projects
Communicate proactively with Sales and/or Project Managers on project timelines, status, and design team capacity.
Flag and resolve project issues that may affect timelines or client expectations, keeping any necessary parties informed throughout.
Partner with the Work Shop Colorado Interior Design team to improve cabinetry designs for financial and design efficiency.

Team Leadership & Management

Lead, mentor, and manage a team of Cabinet Designers.
Conduct regular coaching, training, and performance evaluations.
Establish and maintain productivity expectations and design standards for the team.
Foster a collaborative, detail-oriented, and client-focused team culture.
Assist with hiring, onboarding, and training of new designers.

Design Oversight

Review layouts, cabinet specifications, and design accuracy before projects move forward.
Ensure all projects meet company standards for quality, functionality, and aesthetics.
Assist in design for complex or high-value projects as needed.
Maintain current knowledge of cabinet design trends, products, and industry standards.

Project & Operations Coordination

Oversee project flow from design approval through ordering and installation.
Coordinate with vendors, installers, the Wood Shop General Manager, and internal departments to ensure smooth execution.
Resolve project issues and client concerns in a timely and professional manner.
Ensure accurate ordering, pricing, and documentation at every stage.
Develop and maintain operational SOPs for the cabinet design team.

QUALIFICATIONS

Required

5+ years of kitchen design and cabinetry experience.
Prior leadership or management experience.
Prior cabinet showroom experience.
Proficiency in kitchen design software (20/20).
Strong understanding of cabinetry construction, layouts, and installation processes.
Excellent organizational, communication, and problem-solving abilities.
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines simultaneously.

Preferred

NKBA certification or related industry credentials.
Knowledge of construction, remodeling, or interior design industries.
Experience with vendor management and product line coordination.
Experience developing or documenting operational processes and standards.

COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Competitive base salary from $80,000 to $120,000 annually- plus performance incentives (Actual compensation based on experience and what you will bring to the team).
