Join the City of Louisville as a seasonal Arborist Groundsman and play a hands-on role in keeping the arboriculture in our parks, open spaces, and medians healthy and beautiful. In this active, team-oriented position, you’ll support certified arborists and tree climbers with tree pruning, removals, and general maintenance. You’ll manage essential ground-level operations including equipment use, debris removal, site safety, and logistical support to ensure projects are completed safely and efficiently.

The season runs April 20 through October 16, with a consistent schedule of Monday-Thursday, 6:00am to 4:30pm. We’re looking for candidates who can commit to working through the full season.

The employee is regularly required to sit, stand, walk; use fingers, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and read and speak and hear. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 80 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee regularly works near parks maintenance equipment and moving mechanical parts. The work is performed in outside weather conditions. The employee is frequently exposed to equipment vibration, fumes, airborne particles and toxic or caustic chemicals. The employee occasionally works in high, precarious places and is occasionally exposed to risk of electrical shock, and sharp objects. The noise level in the work environment is at times loud.
