Full Job Description

Overview

Join our dynamic team as a Title Insurance Examiner and become a vital part of the real estate transaction process! In this role, you will meticulously review and analyze property titles to ensure accuracy, compliance, and clear ownership rights. Your expertise will help facilitate smooth property transfers, protect clients’ investments, and uphold the highest standards of legal and industry guidelines. This position offers an exciting opportunity to apply your research skills, deepen your knowledge of real estate law, and contribute to a trusted title insurance operation committed to excellence.

Duties

Conduct comprehensive research of public records, including deeds, mortgages, easements, right-of-way documents, and legal descriptions to establish property histories.
Review title reports and legal descriptions for accuracy, consistency, and completeness in accordance with underwriting guidelines.
Analyze easements, rights-of-way, and other encumbrances using mapping software and GIS (Geographic Information Systems) tools to verify their impact on property titles.
Examine real estate documentation such as surveys, title commitments, and prior title reports to identify potential issues or discrepancies.
Ensure compliance with all underwriting standards and legal requirements during the title review process.
Collaborate with underwriters, attorneys, agents, and clients to resolve title defects or ambiguities efficiently.
Maintain detailed records of research activities, findings, and correspondence for audit purposes and future reference.

Skills

Strong knowledge of real estate law, legal descriptions, and title processing procedures.
Proficiency in researching public records and interpreting legal documents related to property ownership.
Experience with mapping software, GIS technology, and other digital tools used for property analysis.
Familiarity with right-of-way issues, easements, encumbrances, and land surveys.
Excellent attention to detail with the ability to identify discrepancies or potential risks in title documentation.
Effective communication skills for interacting with clients, attorneys, underwriters, and team members.
Prior law office or title agency experience is highly desirable for understanding industry standards and legal nuances.
