ABOUT US

Minds Matter Colorado connects driven, high-achieving high school students from low-income families with the mentoring, coaching, and college-readiness support they need to succeed in college and launch fulfilling careers.

Founded in 2004, MMCO's three-year program provides mentoring, college and career coaching, weekly readiness curriculum, summer campus experiences, and guaranteed college acceptance through partnerships, all at no cost to students. For 20+ years, 100% of MMCO seniors have been admitted to a four-year college with scholarship support.

ABOUT THE ROLE

Lead a $1.2M organization of 4 staff plus the ED, serving 110 students across 15 partner high schools with 190+ volunteers
Guide creation and execution of a multi-year strategic plan to grow to 200 students served by FY 2030 while protecting program quality
Directly manage, cultivate, and solicit a portfolio of 25 major donors, and diversify revenue beyond the signature annual event
Build a strong internal culture, prioritizing staff retention, development, and wellbeing
Partner with the Board of Directors, Associate Board, and Board of Trustees on governance, engagement, and resource development

EXPECTATIONS

Within 15 Days

Meet with the Board Chair, Board of Directors, and all 4 staff members
Review the current strategic plan, budget, and major donor portfolio
Attend a Monday night program session and connect with the Director of Advancement

Within 30 Days

Begin cultivating relationships within the 25-donor major gift portfolio
Assess partnerships across the 15 partner high schools and volunteer base
Engage with the Associate Board and Board of Trustees as staff liaison

Within 60 Days

Take ownership of the multi-year strategic plan toward the 200-student FY 2030 goal
Present initial fundraising and revenue-diversification priorities to the Board
Establish a cadence for staff development and organizational culture initiatives

NEED TO HAVE

Leadership Experience: Progressive senior-level leadership managing and growing a performance/outcomes-based department, organization, or enterprise, preferably in education, nonprofit, or philanthropy
Local Network: Established relationships across the Denver metro and Colorado philanthropic, education, business, and civic communities
Fundraising: Proven track record and passion for fundraising, including donor retention, cultivation of new donors, and driving revenue diversification
Board Partnership: Track record of earning trust and retaining teams while working in genuine partnership with a board
Communication: Exceptional oral and written communication, adaptable across diverse constituencies
Budget Management: Experience managing budgets and forecasting financial performance

NICE TO HAVE

Change Leadership: Demonstrated experience leading through organizational change and growth
Student Population: Experience working with driven students from low-income families
Programmatic Background: Experience in education, training, curriculum, or the college/career success field
Volunteer Management: Experience managing or partnering with volunteers
Entrepreneurial Fit: Thrives in a lean, fast-paced, highly collaborative environment

SCHEDULE

Full-time, hybrid role based in Denver metro
Weekly in-office days as agreed with staff
Monday night program sessions, donor/partner meetings, and bi-monthly Board meetings

BENEFITS

Base salary: $135,000–$150,000
