Full Job Description

Job Summary

Quasar Instruments is seeking a motivated Validation & Applications Chemist for a fulltime, in-person position to support validation implementation, training, and laboratory R&D. This role is ideal for an individual who enjoys both customer interaction and hands-on analytical laboratory work, including analytical method development, validation, troubleshooting, and experimental research using mass spectrometry and other analytical instrumentation (e.g., LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, ICP-MS, QTOF, and related platforms

Primary Responsibilities (60–70%) – Customer Applications & Validation
Secondary Responsibilities (20–30%) – In-House Laboratory Support & R&D Support
Growth & Advanced Responsibilities (10–20%) – Method Development

The ideal candidate for this position is highly adaptable and able to thrive in dynamic laboratory and customer environments. Because client validation and onsite support can change rapidly, this role requires someone who is flexible, solutions-oriented, and comfortable adjusting priorities in real time. This position requires approximately 30-40% travel, including customer site visits lasting approximately 1–2 weeks at a time.

Duties/Responsibilities

Travel approximately 30–40% to customer laboratory sites to provide hands-on customer training and perform validation experiments.
Work directly with client laboratory personnel to coordinate and execute validation studies, troubleshoot instrument and laboratory workflow issues, and guide customers through the validation process from initiation through successful completion.
Prepare reagents, stock solutions, calibrators, controls, troubleshooting samples and other materials required for validation and research activities.
Accurately document validation studies, experiments, training activities, and laboratory records in accordance with company procedures.
When not traveling, support internal team operations by assisting with validation activities, data review, troubleshooting, assay optimization, workflow improvements, and other research and development initiatives.
Prepare stock solutions, calibrators & controls, and other laboratory materials to support client validation studies, off-site and on-site implementations, and field applications activities.
Generate technical reports, validation documentation, and internal project updates.
As competency is demonstrated, responsibilities will expand to include the method development on mass spec-based instrumentation.
Perform other duties as assigned.

Flexibility with travel schedules, including changing travel dates, extended onsite support, and overnight travel as business needs require
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite or related software

Education and Experience

Bachelor’s degree in chemistry, biology, or related scientific field required
Minimum of 1 year of hands-on LCMS, GCMS, or other mass spectrometry experience, with theoretical knowledge of mass spectrometry, analytical chemistry, or clinical urine toxicology.
Experience working in a laboratory environment with strong attention to quality, compliance, and documentation practices
Demonstrated proficiency with standard laboratory equipment, reagents, and laboratory safety practices, including pipettes, centrifuges, PPE, SDS documentation, and handling of organic and aqueous materials

Preferred

Experience with Agilent or other analytical instrumentation platforms (e.g., LC-MS/MS, GC-MS, ICP-MS, QTOF, HPLC, GC), including method optimization, data review, and troubleshooting.
Experience supporting or performing analytical method validations in clinical, environmental, forensic, pharmaceutical, research, or other regulated laboratory environments.
Experience with quality systems or regulatory requirements, such as COLA, CLIA, CAP, ISO 17025 or Laboratory Developed Tests (LDTs), is preferred.
Previous customer-facing, onsite laboratory support, technical training, applications, or field service/field applications experience.
