Analyst - Supply Chain Analytics / Cost Management

Colorado Springs Utilities is seeking an Analyst to support the continued growth of Supply Chain's cost management, sourcing intelligence, and decision-support capabilities. This role transforms procurement, supplier, market, and cost data into actionable insights that improve decision-making across the organization.

The Analyst will partner with Procurement, Materials, Fleet, Finance, and other stakeholders to analyze cost trends, evaluate supplier pricing, support sourcing initiatives, validate savings opportunities, and develop dashboards and reporting tools. This position is ideal for a self-starter who combines strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into practical business recommendations.

Work Location/Schedule:
This position reports to the Supply Chain Analytics Supervisor. The role is eligible for remote/work-from-home days on Mondays and Fridays following successful completion of the six-month probationary period, based on business needs and department expectations.

Key Responsibilities:

Support Supply Chain's cost management program through cost analysis, cost-driver identification, tracking, and reporting.
Analyze supplier pricing, spend data, sourcing activities, and market trends to support procurement decisions.
Assist sourcing teams with pricing analysis, bid evaluations, supplier reviews, and negotiation support.
Validate savings opportunities through analysis of contracts, bids, pricing, and supplier data.
Develop dashboards, reports, and analytical tools using Excel, Power BI, Power Query, and other Microsoft technologies.
Identify trends, risks, variances, and opportunities within procurement, inventory, supplier, contract, and cost data.
Translate complex data into meaningful metrics, visualizations, recommendations, and decision-support materials.
Ensure data accuracy and support cross-functional process and reporting improvements.
Document processes, reporting methodologies, and analytical tools.
Support strategic supply chain initiatives and performance reporting efforts.

What Will Make You Successful?
Successful candidates will bring a background in financial, cost, procurement, sourcing, business, or data analysis and demonstrate:

Strong analytical, financial, pricing, or cost analysis skills
Advanced Excel proficiency and experience working with large data sets
Experience with Power BI, Power Query, and other Power Platform tools
Ability to identify trends, explain findings, and recommend actions
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and navigate ambiguity
Curiosity, initiative, attention to detail, and a continuous improvement mindset
Strong stakeholder partnership and collaboration skills
Supply chain, procurement, sourcing, supplier management, or cost-management experience is highly desirable

Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Finance, Business, Accounting, Economics, Data Analytics, Supply Chain Management, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Relevant experience in financial analysis, cost analysis, procurement analytics, sourcing support, supply chain analytics, business analytics, reporting, or related disciplines is preferred.

Preferred Qualifications:

Cost, financial, pricing, procurement, sourcing, or supplier analysis experience.
Experience supporting sourcing events, bid evaluations, supplier pricing reviews, or negotiations.
Experience developing dashboards and analytical tools in Power BI, Excel, Power Query, or similar platforms.
Experience with Microsoft Power Platform tools.
Familiarity with ERP, procurement, inventory, contract, or supplier management systems.
Experience with large data sets, cost modeling, savings validation, or should-cost analysis.
Utility, public-sector, operations, finance, procurement, or supply chain experience.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS/WORKING CONDITIONS:

Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally (1/3 of the time), and/or a negligible amount of force frequently (1/3 to 2/3 of the time) to lift, carry, push, or pull objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary only if walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other criteria are met.
Positions in this class typically require talking, hearing, seeing, and repetitive motions within an office working environment.
