Position: Executive Director, Special Initiatives

Reports to: President/CEO of the CSCEDC and the Chair of the Executive Committee

FLSA Status: Exempt

Salary: $185,000 to $250,000 depending upon qualifications and experience

Summary of Executive Director Position:

The Colorado Springs Chamber of Commerce & Economic Development Corporation (CSCEDC) is excited to announce this newly created position through their 501(c)(3) non-profit, the Foundation for Colorado Springs’ Future. Founded and initially underwritten by private industry and philanthropy, this effort will create a flexible, enduring framework for aligning partners across multiple sectors around Public-Private-Philanthropic Partnerships (P4) that will incubate and accelerate transformational initiatives, investments and projects, think bigger than any single institution, and convert problems into ideas, ideas into concepts, and concepts into investable opportunities - resulting in multi-generational impacts and long-term prosperity for those who live, work and play in Colorado Springs and the greater Pikes Peak Region. The effort reflects this region’s long tradition of business and philanthropic leadership originating transformational work in partnership with the city, county, and the community’s civic institutions. The position reports to the Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC President/CEO and the Chair of the Executive Committee. This leader will execute the governance of and ensure alignment with all primary funding stakeholders (current and future) and community and government partners on big initiatives, investments, projects and ideas developed by leadership. This is accomplished by managing a wide variety of responsibilities that furthers the mission which includes but are not limited to: developing and guiding strategy; creating and executing policy development; fiscal management; facilitating active stakeholder engagement/alignment; robust public relations and community dialogue; and sophisticated presentation to a variety of boards, commissions and citizen groups. This effort will work to align well with both the City of Colorado Springs’ and El Paso County’s Strategic Plans. Likewise, this effort incorporates our community’s values as unveiled recently in Pikes Peak Community Foundation’s “Our Spacious Skies” community survey. This position will also reconcile with the business community’s perspective as indicated in the ongoing work of the Colorado Springs Chamber & EDC’s Titans of Economic Development Council’s “Cornerstones for Prosperity Framework”.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

· Serve as the effort’s leader which entails effective time management, diplomacy and willingness to do administrative work, creative presentations, interviews, meeting facilitation, fiscal management, ongoing self-study and both independent and collaborative decision making.

· Solid steward of a myriad and diverse stakeholders’ trust and investment by experience, reputation and ongoing execution.

· Facilitator of public/private/philanthropic partnership (P4) initiatives, investments and projects in collaboration with the city, county, state and federal officials along with tracking and executing on details that entails.

· Co-create, oversee and execute the effort’s governance structure.

· Thorough understanding of proposed initiatives, investments and projects while continuously looking to cultivate new opportunities throughout the Colorado Springs Metropolitan Statistical Area. This entails active engagement regionally and nationally.

· Create metrics to evaluate investment impact across the effort’s areas of focus. Metrics should include but not be limited to increased indirect and induced impact to the regional economy, increased community pride, and tangible upward mobility of our citizenry.

· Strengthen and expand mutually beneficial relationships with major sponsors and collaborators including but not limited to: OEDIT, City of Colorado Springs, El Paso County, the Colorado Springs Chamber and Economic Development Corporation, Visit COS, Colorado Springs Sports Corporation, Pikes Peak Community Foundation, Military Bases, and other organizations for support and partnerships.

Minimum Qualifications:

· (Preferred) Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Finance, Marketing, Project Management or related field of study

· 10+ combined years’ experience and knowledge of business, policy making, and communications or equivalent employment showing progressive responsibility growth

· Experience in one or more areas of civic or economic development, such as infrastructure, education and talent, public safety, health, outdoor recreation, or economic vitality

· Experience and confidence in presenting to, and working with local, regional and national elected officials

· Proven examples of working with a myriad of financing mechanisms/capital stacks to fund and accomplish initiatives, investments and projects

· Examples of visionary thinking with proven tactical application for success

· A myriad of demonstrated strategic successes in projects, programs and/or initiatives

· Ability to work and attend events and meetings outside typical business operational hours

Minimum three-year commitment to this role
