Join a Growing Underground Utility Construction Team
HCD Inc. is seeking experienced and dependable individuals to join our team in the underground utility construction industry. We are currently hiring for two field positions:
- Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) Operator
- Hydrovac Operator
Both positions play a key role in underground utility installation, trenchless construction, and excavation support. Ideal candidates have experience operating heavy equipment, working around underground utilities, and maintaining a strong commitment to safety.
Position 1: Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) OperatorResponsibilities
- Operate horizontal directional drilling equipment for underground utility installation
- Monitor drill path and assist with bore tracking and locating
- Handle drill rods, change drill bits, and assist with bore operations
- Install conduit, fiber, or other underground utilities
- Perform routine equipment inspections and maintenance
- Follow safety protocols and OSHA guidelines
- Work closely with crew members to complete drilling projects efficiently
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating directional drilling equipment
- Knowledge of underground utility installation
- Experience with locating systems and bore tracking
- Strong understanding of jobsite safety and excavation practices
Position 2: Hydrovac OperatorResponsibilities
- Operate hydrovac equipment for safe excavation and potholing
- Expose underground utilities using non-destructive excavation methods
- Assist with underground utility installation and site preparation
- Maintain hydrovac equipment and ensure proper operation
- Transport equipment and materials to job sites
- Follow all company safety policies and jobsite procedures
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience operating hydrovac or vacuum excavation equipment
- Experience working around underground utilities
- Knowledge of excavation safety practices
General Qualifications (Both Positions)
- CDL or CDL Permit required
- Valid driver’s license
- Experience in underground utilities, construction, or heavy equipment operation preferred
- Ability to work outdoors in varying weather conditions
- Ability to lift, move equipment, and perform physical labor
- Strong work ethic and reliability
- Ability to work well in a team environment
