Full Job Description

POSITION SUMMARY

The Social Worker with an Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) background provides clinical, behavioral, and supportive services to individuals and families experiencing behavioral health, developmental, emotional, and social challenges. The Social Worker reports to the Director of Behavioral Support Services. This position collaborates with interdisciplinary teams to assess client needs, develop treatment and support plans, provide counseling and case management services, and assist in implementing evidence-based behavioral interventions.

The ideal candidate combines strong social work principles with knowledge of ABA strategies to support positive behavioral outcomes, improve quality of life, and promote client independence across home, school, community, and clinical settings.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education: Master’s degree in Social Work from an accredited institution required. Current state licensure as an LCSW, LMSW, or equivalent preferred or required based on Maryland regulations.

Experience: 2 years of experience in behavioral health, developmental disabilities, autism services, or related fields. Experience working with individuals utilizing ABA principles and behavioral intervention strategies strongly preferred. Experience with case management, crisis intervention, and family support services preferred.

Skills: Knowledge of ABA principles, behavior modification techniques, and behavioral data collection. Understanding of mental health, trauma-informed care, and social service systems. Strong interpersonal, communication, and conflict-resolution skills. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team environment. Strong organizational and documentation skills. Proficient in electronic medical records and complete Microsoft Office suite.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Applied Services

Conduct psychosocial assessments, behavioral assessments, and client interviews to identify emotional, environmental, and behavioral needs.
Develop individualized treatment, support, and service plans in collaboration with clients, caregivers, and interdisciplinary teams.
Utilize ABA-informeed strategies and behavioral interventions to support clients with developmental, behavioral, or mental health needs.

Family and Client Relations

Provide individual, family, and group counseling services.
Assist clients and families in accessing community resources, benefits, and support services.
Assist clients and families in accessing community resources, benefits, and support services.
Collaborate with Board Certified Behavior Analysts (BCBAs), therapists, educators, physicians, and other professionals to coordinate care.
Provide crisis intervention and behavioral support as needed.
Educate caregivers and staff on behavior management techniques, coping strategies, and supportive interventions.

Data Collection and Secure Retention

Participate in case conferences, treatment team meetings, and care coordination activities.
Ensure compliance with organizational policies, ethical standards, state regulations, and HIPAA requirements.
Support discharge planning and transition services when appropriate.
Maintain cultural sensitivity and trauma-informed approaches in all client interactions.
Perform ABA data collections, functional behavioral assessments, and writing behavior plans.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Ability to travel between CSAAC sites and participate in on-site observations.

Ability to operate a computer, keyboard, and other office equipment.

Ability to communicate effectively with staff and clients in person and on the phone.

Ability to move office supplies or equipment weighing up to 25 pounds.
