Full Job Description

Finance Coordinator

Overview:

Calvary Episcopal Church is looking for a team member to help us as a part time financial administrator. In collaboration with the Church Treasurer and under staff supervision of the Rector, the Finance Coordinator is responsible for day to day financial operations.

Our staff values collaboration and cooperation; has fun together, and values diversity, equity, and inclusion.

Primary Responsibilities:

· Process and record all contributions to the church using best business procedures as defined by the church’s treasurer, finance committee, and auditors

· Accept, process, and document transactions for accounts payable and receivable

· Maintain information necessary for employee payroll, benefits, pensions, and works with church contractors to assure accuracy of these financial functions

· Provide on-board information for new employees assuring all employment processes for each new employee are completed accurately and timely

· Correspond with vendor, payroll, insurance, and benefit companies

· Collect and collate data necessary for financial reviews and audits

· Provide financial information for the Finance Committee and the Vestry upon request

o Computer system generated reports using church financial systems

o Analysis of income and spending trends using Microsoft Office or other software

· Provide staff support to the Stewardship Committee to organize solicitation and management of the annual pledge drive

· Enter pledge data, maintain a historical record of pledges, work closely with stewardship chairperson, and maintain strict confidentiality of pledge data

· Furnish information to contributors as relates to stewardship and memorials; complete memorial information check sheet and provide narrative background information to Finance Committee

· Participate in monthly Finance Committee meetings; provide administrative support to the Treasurer, Finance Committee, and Investment Subcommittee

Desired Skills:

· Excellent computer skills and a willingness to learn new programs

· Expected skills include working knowledge of Microsoft Office

· Proficiency of church financial management software within three months of start date

· Good communication skills with a variety of people

· Organizational skills for online and offline record keeping

Education/Background:

· Post secondary degree in finance related area of interest preferred, but not required

· Recognized interest and experience in financial activities in an office setting is expected

· Employment is based on background check; completion of our online training, “Safe Church, Safe Communities” is required as part of the orientation

Workload:

· Typically, 20 hours a week – Office hours are normally scheduled but can be flexible based on conversation with the Rector. Occasional work from home hours can be arranged, however the “normal” location for this position is on-site.

· Regularly attend scheduled Staff Meetings

Compensation:

· Competitive based on education, experience, and skill

· Paid vacation and holidays based on the number of hours worked
