Job Overview
This position is responsible for the creation of complete electrical design packages for custom and unitary ICS products. This would include but not be limited to: creation of detailed electrical schematics, electrical ratings information & labels, panel layout drawings, equipment layout drawings, and component specifications for purchasing. Also provide technical support to manufacturing, purchasing, sales, service personnel, etc.
Major Responsibilities:
1. Creation of electrical designs and calculation of electrical ratings for custom or unitary ICS when provided with required job specifications. Ensure designs are compliant with all NEC, UL, safety, and manufacturing standards as required.
2. Coordinate with manufacturing scheduling to ensure production flow requirements and electrical design due dates are met.
3. Coordinate with engineering, sales, and TSS to ensure all required electrical design information is provided in a timely manner.
4. Technical support for manufacturing, purchasing, sales, & service personnel as required.
5. Participate in electrical design process improvement.
6. Participate in product improvement and redesign (as related to electrical design).
7. Participate in product cost reduction (as related to electrical design).
8. Assist with claim resolution (as related to electrical design).
Major Tasks: List those elements of work performed in carrying out the major responsibilities.
1. Obtain all required specification info for assigned job. Ensure information is consistent and congruent. Interface with engineering, sales, and TSS as necessary.
2. Utilize AutoCAD Electrical, SyteLine, Microsoft Excel, and other software as required to design & create electrical schematics, calculate electrical ratings information, create cabinet layout drawings, create bills of material, create equipment layout drawings, create electrical labels, as well as create any special instructions or other items required for DWP electrical systems. Ensure designs are compliant with all NEC, UL, safety, and manufacturing standards as required.
3. Coordinate with engineering, sales, and TSS to provide all required electrical design information in a timely manner to support the submittal/sales process. Attend submittal coordination meetings, etc. as required.
4. Coordinate with production & manufacturing scheduling to ensure all required electrical design information is provided on time to support production flow requirements. Attend production meetings, etc. as required.
5. Provide product related technical service and support on electrical design related issues for manufacturing, purchasing, sales, and service as required.
6. Participate in electrical design process improvement (including VSM, Kaizen, Lean manufacturing, etc.) as requested/required.
7. Participate in product improvement and redesign as related to electrical design (including RTC, DTC, etc.) as requested/required.
8. Participate in product cost reduction as related to electrical design (including TCP, RTC, etc.) as requested/required.
9. Assist with claim resolution process – including problem documentation, investigation, and resolution (including SWAT, etc.) as requested/required.
Description of Authority:
1. Interpret specifications, NEC & UL codes, and system requirements to ensure compliance and safety when designing electrical systems.
2. Generate Bills of Material for purchasing of electrical components.

Position Qualifications: Minimum requirements desired to perform the duties and responsibilities of the position.
1. Two year technical degree, or 4 years electrical design experience, or 4 years field wiring experience, or equivalent.
2. Knowledge and familiarity with National Electrical Code preferred.
3. Experience with AutoCAD preferred, especially with AutoCAD Electrical.
4. Experience with commercial HVAC equipment preferred.
5. Computer competency required. Experience with Microsoft Excel and Word preferred.
