Full Job Description

Position Summary

The Level 2 Field and Remote Support Technician provides support to 3 areas of service and reports to Thrives’ Chief Technology Officer. This includes 3 areas of support as indicated below:

1. Intermediate technical support for Thrive IT clients through onsite installations, remote troubleshooting, and escalated ticket resolution.

2. Network support (Ubiquiti equipment), as directed by Chief Technology Office

3. Remote support on day to day tickets as required by volume and urgency

This in office position reports to the Chief Technology Officer and works closely with other technicians, administrative staff, vendors, and clients.

Responsibilities

1. Onsite Technical Support

Perform onsite installations, service calls, deployments, troubleshooting, and project work at client locations.
Install and configure computers, monitors, docking stations, printers, scanners, servers, switches, firewalls, wireless access points, and related equipment.
Complete workstation deployments, data transfers, software installations, user setups, equipment replacements, and technology relocations.
Perform onsite troubleshooting when an issue cannot be resolved remotely.
Confirm that equipment and services are functioning properly before completing an onsite visit.
Document the work performed, equipment installed, changes made, and any required follow-up.

2. Network Support

Provide support for Ubiquiti and other approved network equipment under the direction of the CTO.
Diagnose network performance, connectivity, and configuration issues.
Troubleshoot switches, firewalls, routers, wireless access points, VLANs, VPNs, cabling, and related equipment.
Troubleshoot DNS, DHCP, Wi-Fi, switching, routing, firewall, VPN, and internet-service issues.
Review network alerts, logs, diagrams, and documentation to identify the cause of an issue.
Escalate advanced network, server, security, or application issues as directed by the Chief Technology Officer.
Document network configurations, device information, IP addresses, credentials, and changes in approved systems.

3. Remote Technical Support and Escalation

Provide Level 2 remote support for computers, servers, networks, printers, Microsoft 365, email, applications, and related technology.
Assist with day-to-day service tickets based on ticket volume, client urgency, and team needs.
Receive escalated tickets from Level 1 technicians and take ownership through resolution or appropriate escalation.
Diagnose problems using approved remote-management, monitoring, documentation, and troubleshooting tools.
Troubleshoot Windows operating systems, user profiles, permissions, software, hardware, and peripheral devices.
Support Microsoft 365, Outlook, Teams, OneDrive, SharePoint, Entra ID, and multifactor authentication.
Communicate clearly with clients regarding troubleshooting progress, resolution, and required next steps.
Maintain accurate and timely ticket notes, including troubleshooting performed, time worked, resolution, and follow-up requirements.

Ticketing and Documentation

Accurately document all work, troubleshooting steps, time, travel, equipment, configurations, and resolutions in Syncro.
Update tickets throughout the workday so clients and internal staff have current information.
Maintain accurate client documentation, including asset records, network information, warranties, credentials, and installation notes.
Follow established procedures, checklists, and documentation standards.

Client Service and Communication

Communicate with clients professionally, patiently, and confidently.
Explain technical concerns and recommended solutions in understandable language.
Set realistic expectations regarding schedules, next steps, and resolution times.
Protect the confidentiality and security of client information.
Represent Thrive IT professionally while working remotely and at client locations.

Team Responsibilities

Work cooperatively with Level 1 technicians, senior technicians, leadership, administrative staff, and vendors.
Provide guidance to Level 1 technicians when appropriate.
Participate in technical meetings, training, and process-improvement activities.
Notify leadership promptly of security concerns, client dissatisfaction, project delays, or issues that could create business risk.
Follow Thrive IT policies, security standards, and escalation procedures.
Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Technical Qualifications

At least two years of professional IT support experience or equivalent demonstrated technical ability.
Strong knowledge of Windows desktop operating systems and common business applications.
Working knowledge of Microsoft 365 administration and user support.
Experience troubleshooting switches, routers, firewalls, wireless networks, VPNs, DNS, DHCP, and TCP/IP.
Experience installing and supporting computers, printers, network devices, and business technology.
Ability to diagnose problems systematically and determine when escalation is appropriate.
Experience using ticketing, remote-monitoring, documentation, and remote-support tools.
Familiarity with cybersecurity practices, multifactor authentication, endpoint protection, backups, and least-privilege access.
Relevant Microsoft, CompTIA, networking, or vendor certifications are preferred but not required when equivalent experience can be demonstrated.

Ability to work independently while following technical standards and escalation procedures.

Ability to participate in occasional after-hours, emergency, or scheduled project work when required.

Physical Requirements

The employee must be able to:

Transport, lift, and install computers, monitors, printers, network equipment, and related technology.
Work beneath desks, in equipment rooms, and around network racks.
Use ladders or step stools when reasonably required for equipment installation.
Remain seated or standing for extended periods while performing technical work.
Safely lift and carry equipment weighing up to 50 pounds, with assistance when appropriate.
Reasonable accommodation will be considered in accordance with applicable law.

Pay: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00 per year
