Job Responsibilities

Under limited supervision by the Communications Manager, the Digital Outreach Coordinator will serve as the subject matter expert for external communication platforms focused on employer engagement, digital media, video production, social media content, campaign support, field content collection, and multimedia storytelling.

In this position you will be responsible for the following:

Develop, produce and support video and multimedia content within guidelines for approved SCVRD events and programs.
- Draft concepts to include, but not limited to, video outline, scripts, storyboards, shot lists, and production approaches for assigned campaigns and projects before initiating the project.
- Capture professional photographs, interviews, short-form videos, video cutdowns, recap videos, social media clips, and other approved multimedia materials.
- Support major awareness months and Agency priorities to include, but not limited to, Recovery Month, NDEAM, Manufacturing Month, Mental Health Month, Deaf Awareness/Disability Awareness content, the 100-Year Observance, Mobile Unit rollout, Consumer Class montage, Consumer of the Year spotlight, Business Class mash-up video, SCVRA recognition, employer engagement and assigned campaigns.
- Utilize communication archives or area office submissions whenever possible for efficiency.
- Identify and report when additional filming, travel, vendor support or outside production assistance is needed.
- Prepare files for review, revision, final approval, presentation, publishing, and playback.
- Label and archive final assets using established naming and storage standards.
Coordinate the Agency’s day-to-day external social media content and publishing process across approved platforms.
- Develop and maintain a weekly social media content calendar aligned with Agency's priorities, campaigns, employer engagement, field activities, and leadership direction.
- Draft captions, post copies, graphics, photographs, short-form videos, links, calls to action, and visual concepts for review and approval.
- Schedule and publish approved content.
- Monitor comments, questions, mentions, and engagement.
- Elevate issues requiring leadership, program, legal, or customer-service response.
- Ensure content complies with Agency approval, branding, accessibility, confidentiality, records-retention, and consent requirements.
- Track reach, engagement, video views, audience growth, click activity, and other available performance indicators.
- Provide weekly analytics, observations, and recommendations.
Establish and promote SCVRD’s external employer-facing communications platforms to highlight SCVRD as a workforce solution for businesses across South Carolina.
- Create employer-facing materials, outreach tools, and digital content that support Business Development staff and employer engagement priorities.
- Develop content to explain SCVRD services to employers, chambers, partner organizations, and community stakeholders.
- Assist with LinkedIn content, business outreach messaging and other approved external-facing initiatives.
- Recommend practical advertising, social media, chamber, partners or digital-outreach opportunities that support employer engagement goals.
- Coordinate with Business Development staff, Field Operations and communications leadership to ensure business-facing content reflects the Agency’s priorities and approved messaging.
Coordinate assigned external website content in partnership with communications leadership, the Digital Communications Coordinator, IT, and program owners.
- Ensure all content is accurate, accessible, organized, relevant, user-friendly, and consistent with Agency messaging.
- Identify content that is outdated, missing, duplicated, inaccessible, or unclear and recommend updates for approval.
- Prepare approved text, photographs, videos, links, and other digital assets for website use.
- Obtain required review and approval before making substantive content changes.
Produce purposeful photography, videography, and multimedia coverage of approved Agency events and activities.
- Develop event-coverage plans identifying priority photographs, video footage, interviews, speakers, partners, signage, audience interaction, geographic representation, and expected deliverables.
- Coordinate with area offices, program staff, Business Development staff, project leads, and communications leadership to confirm event details and content priorities.
- Confirm participant names and titles, release information, accessibility needs, travel requirements, deadlines, and expected deliverables.
- Capture clear, professional, usable images and footage that reflect the Agency’s mission and protect consumer privacy and dignity.
- Select, edit, caption, label, archive, and distribute approved photographs and videos for social media, the external website, internal platforms, presentations, publications, media outreach, recognition activities, and future campaigns.
- Provide area offices with clear photography, video, release, and submission instructions when in-person Communications coverage is not warranted or possible.
Collaborate with departments to support content collection, event coverage and coordination of needs to complete assigned communications projects.
- Request and organize photographs, quotes, logos, videos, names, titles, release forms, event information, and story details.
- Confirm the accuracy and completeness of submitted content.
- Follow up promptly when required information or materials are missing.
- Maintain a geographically and programmatically balanced pipeline of consumers, employers, partners, staff, and event stories.
- Coordinate deadlines and deliverables with project leads, AV vendors, internal contributors, and communications leadership.
Participate in Communications Department planning, reporting, and continuous improvement activities.
- Attend weekly department meetings and other required meetings.
- Provide weekly updates on all assigned projects to include topics such as, but not limited to, social media, campaign work, recognition videos, conference needs, or travel requirements and include outstanding tasks and risks.
- Proactively communicate when competing priorities, missing materials, travel limitations, or production requirements may affect deadlines or quality.
- Present drafted material for review, feedback, revision and final approval.
- Collaborate with the Digital Communications Coordinator and the Communications Department team to have continuous innovation and improvement.
Maintain assigned photography, videography, audio, and multimedia production equipment, and digital assets.
- Maintain an accurate inventory of cameras, lenses, microphones, lighting, tripods, memory cards, portable backdrops, and other assigned production equipment.
- Ensure equipment is properly checked out, returned, stored securely, and maintained in good order.
- Maintain organized digital archives, usage rights, release records, and final approved files.
- Report missing, damaged, or malfunctioning equipment immediately.
Perform all other duties as assigned.
- Complete additional assignments/projects assigned accurately and in a timely manner.

Minimum and Additional Requirements

Bachelor’s degree and four years of professional experience working in communication, public relations, digital media, photography, videography, filmmaking, scriptwriting, editing, marketing, journalism or related field.
Experience using social media platforms, content management systems, digital analytics, and multimedia production tools.
Experience working with Microsoft 365, specifically SharePoint, Teams and OneDrive.
Valid driver's license and ability to travel.

If invited to interview, please obtain your Official 10 year driving record from the Department of Motor Vehicles to bring with you.

Official transcripts will be required to verify college degree.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to use a variety of office and audio-visual equipment.
Must be able to stand, walk, bend, lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects up to 50 pounds.

Work Environment:

Must be able to work in an indoor office setting and in an outside environment for event coverage.
Must be able to come in direct contact with employees, consumers, and the public.
Periodic in-state day travel; occasional in-state and out-of-state overnight travel.
May work outside of normal business hours.

Preferred Qualifications

Videography Certificate, preferred.
Adobe Certified Associate or Final Cut Pro badge, preferred.
FAA Part 107 Drone Pilot license, preferred.
