Full Job Description

Title: Mechanical Commissioning Lead
Position Type: Contract
Location: Various U.S. Locations
Reports to: Commissioning Manager

Key Project Requirements:

Mechanical commissioning experience in power generation or large industrial projects.
Strong experience performing system walkdowns, mechanical checkouts, run-ins, and punch list management.
Ability to coordinate vendors, subcontractors, and construction teams for mechanical system readiness.
Knowledge of safety requirements including LOTO and system boundary identification.

Job Summary:
PIC Staffing is seeking experienced Mechanical Commissioning Leads to support mechanical pre-commissioning, startup, and system testing on a variety of new and ongoing projects across the United States. The Mechanical Commissioning Lead will oversee mechanical systems turnover, coordinate with construction and vendor teams, manage punch list closure, and ensure all systems meet project commissioning and safety requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Lead mechanical commissioning, startup, and testing activities for equipment and systems on major projects.
Perform system walkdowns, mechanical checkouts, punch list development and closure, and turnover documentation.
Coordinate vendors, subcontractors, and site teams for equipment installation checks, run-ins, and system readiness.
Ensure proper installation, layout, boundaries, and temporary utilities (water, air, piping, power) for startup activities.
Monitor construction completion and support client turnover, verifying compliance with safety and quality standards.
Provide technical direction to commissioning and construction teams during mechanical startup activities.

Job Requirements:

Strong understanding of mechanical commissioning processes, drawings, and construction documentation.
Demonstrated leadership and communication skills for managing commissioning teams and vendors.
Ability to coordinate multi-discipline commissioning activities and resolve system issues.
Knowledge of OSHA LOTO requirements and other safety protocols.

Education / Experience:

Mechanical engineering degree or equivalent experience required.
OSHA-10 or OSHA-30 preferred.
5+ years of mechanical commissioning experience in the power generation or heavy industrial sector.
