About the Position
Fastest Labs is looking for an outgoing, dependable professional who can support our drug and alcohol testing operations while also helping us build relationships with local businesses.
This is not a position where you will sit in the lab waiting for customers during slower periods.
When customers need assistance, you will perform drug and alcohol collections, manage documentation, answer questions, and provide the fast, friendly service Fastest Labs is known for.
When the lab is not busy, you will conduct local business outreach. This includes visiting nearby companies, introducing Fastest Labs, speaking with receptionists and other gatekeepers, identifying the appropriate decision-makers, and helping generate qualified meetings and sales opportunities.
The right person will be equally comfortable assisting a customer in the lab and walking into a local business to start a professional conversation.
Primary ResponsibilitiesLaboratory and Customer Service
- Perform drug and alcohol specimen collections in accordance with company procedures.
- Assist with DOT and non-DOT testing services.
- Welcome customers and explain the collection process.
- Verify identification and complete accurate testing documentation.
- Answer incoming calls and respond to basic customer questions.
- Maintain confidentiality and protect sensitive customer information.
- Keep the laboratory clean, organized, and professional.
- Follow established safety, quality-control, and chain-of-custody procedures.
- Provide coverage at our Columbia and West Columbia locations as needed.
- Complete required collector training and certifications.
Business Development and Community Outreach
- Visit local businesses during designated outreach periods.
- Introduce Fastest Labs and provide a brief overview of our services.
- Build rapport with receptionists, office managers, administrative staff, and other gatekeepers.
- Identify the individuals responsible for human resources, safety, compliance, operations, or hiring.
- Leave approved marketing materials with prospective clients.
- Gather accurate contact information and relevant details for follow-up.
- Help schedule qualified meetings for the owner.
- Identify companies that may need drug testing, alcohol testing, background screening, DOT compliance, or related services.
- Maintain organized notes regarding business visits, conversations, contacts, and follow-up opportunities.
- Represent Fastest Labs professionally throughout the community.
Performance Bonus Opportunities
In addition to hourly compensation, this position is eligible for performance-based bonuses tied to qualified business development results.
Bonus opportunities may include:
- Qualified meetings accepted and completed by management.
- Opportunities that advance to a formal proposal.
- New accounts generated through the employee’s outreach efforts.
Bonuses are based on the quality and progression of the opportunity—not simply the number of businesses visited or appointments requested. Specific bonus amounts and qualification requirements will be explained during the interview process.

- Can transition between detailed laboratory work and community outreach.
- Is dependable, organized, and punctual.
- Maintains a professional appearance and attitude.
- Is comfortable being measured on both service quality and business development activity.
- Is willing to learn regulated drug and alcohol collection procedures.
Previous sales or medical experience is helpful, but personality, professionalism, reliability, and communication skills are especially important.
Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Previous customer service, retail, hospitality, healthcare, recruiting, banking, membership sales, or business development experience preferred.
- Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation required.
- Ability to travel locally between Fastest Labs locations and prospective businesses.
- Comfortable using computers, mobile applications, email, and basic customer-management systems.
- Ability to follow detailed procedures and maintain accurate records.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Must be able to successfully complete required training and certifications.
- Must meet all applicable employment and background requirements.
Schedule
- Part-time position.
- Approximately 20–30 hours per week.
- Primarily weekday and daytime hours.
- Schedule may vary based on laboratory coverage and business needs.
- Availability to support both Columbia and West Columbia locations is required.
Compensation
- $16–$19 per hour, based on experience and qualifications.
- Performance bonuses for qualified meetings, proposals, and new accounts generated.
- Mileage reimbursement for approved business travel.
