CNC Programmer

Boss Display is a full-service design and production firm specializing in interactive exhibits for Children’s Museums and Science Centers. Boss Display maintains an environment of quality-orientated employees, which is reflected in our leading position in the market. We are currently seeking a full-time CNC Programmer to join our team.

Job Description

Computer numerically controlled (CNC) programmers use software to program factory machines that turn raw materials into parts for production. They are responsible for processing 3D models, programming files for the CNC machine, adjusting the machine cutting tools, tool paths, feeds, and speeds. Then performing quality checks on the final product. You may also be required to coordinate with the CNC operator to perform routine machine maintenance and troubleshoot any issues that arise during the machining process.

To ensure success as a CNC Programmer, you should have extensive experience working in manufacturing, a keen eye for detail, and the ability to work unsupervised. Ultimately, a top-class CNC programmer works quickly and efficiently, ensuring all products meet the specifications of the drafting department as well as the client.

Roles and Responsibilities:

Processing and nesting 3D models from drafting department
Review files from drafting department for manufacturability
Programming the correct cutting tools, tool paths, feeds, and speeds for the job
Load and unload sheet good materials to and from the CNC machine
Troubleshooting issues during the machining process
Documenting issues and recording successful resolutions
Update and maintain TechDB for mill features and operations to improve efficiency
Work with engineering staff to develop global machining strategies that are effective in a high mix low volume production environment
Performing quality control after machining
Occasionally cut machined part out of sheets and flush trim edges
Use a forklift to transport materials
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
When available, assist other fabrication departments on a multitude of fabrication tasks using various hand and power tools
Follow all safety policies and procedures
Attendance, promptness, professionalism, the ability to pay attention to detail, cooperativeness with co-workers and managers, and politeness to clients and vendors
Other duties or special projects as assigned

Skills & Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED
Previous work experience as a CNC programmer
Ability to interpret 3D models
Experience with computer modeling software
Strong attention to detail and take pride in work
Ability to work independently
Ability to stand for extended periods
Ability to lift and move heavy objects
Willingness to work after-hours when required
Willingness to learn new skills
Experience driving forklifts
Experience using hand tools and power tools
Good communication skills, positive attitude, and a team oriented attitude
